In today's society the theme for life is to do something progressive. Everyone wants to move toward something, but what are we really moving towards? Since its an election year all the politicians want to talk about progress and moving the country forward. I think progress for our nation right now is to try to fix all these problems that are present. Instead of moving we need to fix where we are now. The economy is on a downward slope and only projected to get worse. Foreclosure rates are steadily rising and milions of americans don't have health care. Natural disasters are all too common in our headlines and test scores in certain parts of the country are so low that its pathetic. America needs to wake up. While our government officials are in Iraq fighting to liberate a nation that is trying to kick us out, our homeland is crumbling beneath our feet and no one seems to care. Where is the progress in that? Everyone goes on about their lives unaware of the bad times that are on the horizon for our nation if we don't wise up. If I, a high school student, can see it I know anyone can. If our nation wants to be progressive it needs to pull back the shiny perfect "America the Beautiful" surface and expose the avoided taboo like problems that have been festering in country for a long time.
Progressive or not? That is the question!
