For those of you who purchase bootleg DVDs and download free movie files, please discontinue that practice. The good in movie piracy outweighs the bad aspects. It's good because they are affordable, avoid crowds, you see movies before they are released in theaters, and you can stay home. But they contribute to organized crime, billions of dollars is lost from the motion picture studios, average studio workers lose their jobs, you get a lack of the movie going experience, and it is a criminal offense. Also as a result, movie studios produce remakes and sequels because they feel safer to get back their money. But of course the quality of these pictures do not meet up with the originals. So consumers get less movies every year, and the quality in these movies decrease. Studios also put special features on DVD releases to have consumers buy not only the movies, but the DVD exclusive special features. Solutions to fight back against movie piracy for the average joe is to purchase discounted tickets and or go during matinees. Go to a movie on a weekday to avoid crowds. If you live in Southern California, they are plenty of free movie tickets in Hollywood and at college campuses for test screenings of upcoming movies. There is always another way. Movie piracy is NOT your only option.

Yes. but you can't stop people from doing it. like music, people will still do it, especially with the popularity of Ipods and MP3s.
I understand I can't stop people from doing it. I'm just giving an argument of why people shouldn't be pirating.
Many people also believe legalizing drugs will stop those very same things that you describe. Why don't we just legalize all drugs?

Legalizing pot is fine with me. From what I hear, it's safer than cigrattes. But those other drugs can harm your body. With pirating, it harms the economy, entertainment industry, and consumers. I forgot to mention if you want to learn more, check out mpaa.org
lol legalize pot...
Well that it a matter of who you ask as well. Pot, cigarettes, alcohol, etc, are all toxic and are harmful to your body.
But people who like pot will want you to legalize it. Just like people who want crack will want you to legalize that...
Each of the supporters for legalizing Pot/ or what ever drug of choice will affect consumers, the economy, and peoples life's in general. At least they would not have to steal and hide doing drugs if it was legal.
Don't get me wrong I am not a supporter of legalizing drugs of any kind, or a supporter of buying fake dvd's, In fact I only have a few in my home that was purchased by someone else. I personally do not engage in these types of purchases and I frankly would not even know where to begin buying them in the city that I live in. Now when I lived in the Bronx... (most of my life) that was quite easy... you could find them on ever other street corner.
Thanks for the link. I understand your concerns, I just like playing the devils advocate ;)
I am of supporter of getting the real drug dealers from continuing to bring the drugs into the poor communities and then poor getting locked up for it instead of the real dealers making the big bucks!! I have yet in my life seen a 16 year old African-American boy fly a 747 from Columbia to the US. I have yet to know of any planes coming in to the USA that was not on the flight plans (you know since 9/11 and all) So how the heck we still got drugs coming into this country?
Sorry totally off topic!!! I am on a rampage tonight! LOL
peace!

I have a question. I have asked this on yahoo and google but no one knows the answer. If I watch movies on cinecast or any other website is that illegal? If I don't download or "share" or upload is it illegal and what are the penalties? Does anyone have any links about the legality of this issue?
DISCLAIMER: I am not being rude. I'm stating my opinion. No personal attacks are meant. Please give some leniency on how you take my words. imagine me saying them with a smile. ^__^
I completely agree with you. I just think that with the internet possibilities these days, movie piracy is unstoppable and there are always going to be people who do it.
