The End is Near

Just a short reminder to bloggers that there is one week remaining in the "Blogging for Progress Challenge." After next Monday, December 4, noon, Pacific Standard Time, no comments, blogs, or reads will count towards point totals. Also, this week is a very crucial time for collectiing points. I can say from personal experience that you can be one of the top bloggers the entire contest, and for me that was four, long months, but fall out of the running in the last week of competition simply because you did not log in all week due to a busy schedule, etc . . . Finals are approaching, as well as the holiday break, and its a very busy time of year- which is understandable; but its important to remember that the users who put the most time and effort into the site are going to be the users that win. But even though the contest will be over, that does not mean bloggers should stop using the site. In between contests is a great time to get blogging practice in and make/keep friends who not only have the potential to help you in the next contest, but in the working world as well.

It’s also important to remember that the competition during this semester's challenge was fierce. There are handfuls of users who worked extremely hard, and each of them deserves to win the scholarship. Unfortunately not everyone can. The good news is, though, that there will be another challenge next semester and another chance to win.

Even though the scholarship is what drives most bloggers, its important to remember that there is a bigger picture to the site. We students are helping to create a politically aware generation that makes decisions based on facts- not our parents' opinions or on party lines. We are creating a generation that is more abreast than the generation before us and consequently more positive political and social changes will come about in the next decade. So even if you don’t win the contest this semester or ever, no one walks away from this site as a loser either. Because everyone in the United States wins when people like us, everyone who has contributed to this site, come together to create a better future, a more effective government, and a broad prosperity for the future.

Good Luck!

The title scares the bejesus out of me.

**Should we split U.S. in two?

I love how you used the word "bejesus". I can't believe this scholarship is ending...:( I just want to say Debatechick, that I admire your devotion and hardwork on this website. Are you the spokesperson or something? Or are you also in for the scholarship? Good Luck to you too.

Since October 1.

"1. CONTEST PERIOD AND ENTRY DATES: The contest period will begin at 12:01 a.m. (PDT) on October 1, 2006 and end at 12:00 noon (PST) on December 4, 2006. To be eligible during this contest period entrants must create a ProgressiveU.org user account and indicate agreement with these Official Contest Rules by no later than 11:59 p.m. (PST) on November 1, 2006."

Unfortunately for anyone who did not know about the scholarship its too late to enter in the contest. However as previously stated, there will be other opportunities. So don't be dismayed.

Nope. Lol. Just dedicated. Refer to the comment I left in response to your similar suggesstion in a forum. I just support programs that encourage youth to become politically active in order to create a generation that is more informed than that of the one before us.

This site has opened my eyes and beliefs up tremendously!! I also think its way cool that a scholarship is involved as well! I have been one to have to slack off due to exams, papers, and projects. You just lit a fire under my butt!! Thank you-
