I work inside a movie theatre and as such I see what people go to which movies. Lately I have been noticing a trend: parents takes very young children into R rated movies. I believe this is worng, not because all rated R movies are bad, but because there is a reason why the movies are rated R. Children simply are not mature enough to be exposed to these movies that display crude humor, bloody war scenes, nudity and an incredible amount of cursing. When Borat came out, I thought that perhaps it could be a somewhat acceptable movie, but once many of my friends saw it and revealed to me what it contained , I was appalled. It is a crude movie with obscene gestures and things a young child simply shoud not ever see or hear. Yet, I see parents taking their children into them. And we wonder why many children do not seem as innocent as they once did, when they are exposed to adult material, that any adults themselves should not even be seeing. I wonder what is happening to our society when it is ok to take children to these films. We need to stand up and work for some type of change, either in the movie industry or in the way parents raise their children.

Children nowadays are exposed to so much more than I was when I was a little kid. I remember like 5 or so years ago, (my step brother was 6) my step brother came in my room when I was watching "8 Mile" and he said, "oh, you might want to cover your eyes, this is a gross part." I looked at him, appalled "Chris, where have you seen this movie?" and he replied "My mom let me watch it." I really never liked his mom... Some parents just dont care.
