I recently was planning on petitioning the new ipod rule that started this year at my school. It basically says that anyone caught on campus with an ipod can have it taken away until the end of the year or graduation. I did a little research into it and realized that if i tride to do anything about it, it would be a waste of my time.
I was told that students opinion don't matter, and that Principle Denton only responds to parents.
"Why?" I asked.
Well, it all goes back to last year when everyone got into the Ipod craze, and theives got into the Ipod stealing craze. I guess almost everytime a students Ipod got stolen, they'd call the school and bitch about it (as if the school was responsible for it). So many parents did this, that the school got tired of it and made the rule what it is today.
I decided that having to get all the parents of Corona to go to a district meeting concerning Ipods wasn't going to happen and wasn't worth my time.
So first of all I'd like to say:
THANKS IDIOTS
If you got your Ipod stolen last year, consider yourself the source of everyone's frustration. Because it was you who couldn't tell your mom to shut up because it was your fault. You took your ipod to school and got it stolen. I mean, yeah, it's unfair that it got stolen, but guess what, you took your 300 dollar piece of equiptment to school when the school discouraged it, so it's your fault we can't listen to music at school anymore.
I guess this blog is karma because the hard drive of my ipod broke. It's gonna cost 250 to get a new hard drive. I might as well get a new ipod.

That does stink..Some rules are lame and some schools could care less about what students thing..Maybe it is a good thing there not allowed at school but who knows..I love my iPod but I rarly take it to school..Hope you get a new iPod soon!
I love my ipod too. I rarely took it to school to begin with except on test days because listening to music without lyrics helps me relax. My birthday is coming up soon so i'm hoping for the best.
I think it's faults on both ends. First off, the school shouldn't put such a rule unless the iPod is distracting students from their education. It's one thing if a kid listens to music during lunch for fun, but it's another thing if they use the notes section of the iPod to cheat on a test (it happened at my school, which is why iPods aren't allowed on in class. They should be tucked away. There's no ban though).
However at the same time, students should know that regardless of where they are, they should keep on eye or lock away their valuables. Recently at my school a random person walked onto campus and stole $2000 from the locker room. It was pretty freaky and there was this whole case. Rarely does something like this happen. But it goes to show you that anything can happen, and if students leave their iPods in vulnerable areas, chances are they are going to get stolen. So it's their responsibility and they're taking a risk if they bring it.
Just a random thought... why would anyone steal an iPod? I mean you can only hook it up to a certain number of computers to change the music and all...
Spoiled much? You go to school to learn, not to listen to music. Not being able to show off your iPod when you're on the school ground is oh-so-disconcerting.
in response to your comment I am not an iPod freak as I may have perceived myself to be in my blog. Studies show that you get better test scores if you study in the same environment as you would if you were taking the test. i use my iPod for study purposes at school. Music without words helps me relax. My iPod was also one of the oldest models with the black and white screen so it was nothing really to show off. I hope this clarified myself better.
Our school has never been allowed us to have our ipods, mp3 players, cd players, or any music equpiment while on "school time". Although we are not allowed to have our music players you will see teachers with them during theor free periods. As unfair as this may sound it doesn't really bug a majority of the students or myself. I think students that have their stuff stolen are irresposible and shouldnt have it if they cant keep track of it. At our school your stuff is bound to get stolen if left unattended but the policy states right up front that its not the schools fault and like many other schools that is enforced. You have to be responsible for your own actions and its sad that people cant keep their hands off other people things causing everyone to suffer.
