SI Awareness Day

March 1 is Self-Injury Awareness Day. I just realized that it is very soon. This is probably not something that a whole lot of people know about, but I wish more people would try to understand this epidemic. Many who are struggling with self-injury find it very difficult to get help because people are afraid of it since they cannot understand why people intentionally hurt themselves. By not trying to learn about it and at least accept that it happens the people struggling with this do not get the help they need. I urge you all to do something on this day that would help spread understanding and knowledge of self-injury, even if you personally just read about the topic and educate yourself. I am very passionate about this topic and I feel like I really need to get the word out there and help people learn more about this so that they can be better equipped to help those who are struggling.
Later on I will post more about this, but for my first post I really wanted to mention Self-Injury Awareness Day on March 1 since that day is coming up. Hopefully you all will spread the word and help raise awareness as well.

I do believe it's important to help stop self-injury, but removing it completely is impossible. You can't ever completely remove a social problem. It just doesn't work that way.

Personally, I used to cut myself. But I haven't in years, and I stopped cutting on my own, without any help or intervention from anyone. I was young, too, I'm talking fourteen or younger here. Eighth grade was when I first started cutting. I know I'm probably just a rare, lucky case, but maybe it's not as bad as it's cut out to be? For me, it was just an attention-seeking phase, and I'm sure I'm not the only one like that out there. The world isn't just statistics.

Just to show my geekiness:
"You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?"
"We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek! You are superior in only one respect."
"What is that?"
"You are better at dying."

Imaginary points if you get the reference.
