Rotty Wild

I have a beautiful female German Rottweiler.  She is the kindest and most gentle 150 pd dog you will ever come to know.  But of course, my giant scares the neighbors.  The bad rap pit-bulls and rotties have gotten is so unfair.  These dogs are so mistreated by their owners.  These dogs are commonly used for dog fights and other atrocities making them vicious. But when they do have a nice owner who loves and does not TEACH them to be aggressive then they can be wonderful family animals.  It used to be that pit bulls and rotties  (I think rotties are still up there) were at the top of the list as the best family animal but that changed with the rise in their use in dog fights.

Ironically, we ruin the dogs by making them aggressive and then punish them with euthanasia and who know what else because we made them aggressive.

Now we have all these stringent laws for people who choose to own a rottweiler or pit-bull, which I can understand these laws.  But the twist is that say a robber comes into your back yard and your poodle bites the robber.  Well the robber goes to jail and your family goes back to normal.  But if a robber comes into your house and the rottie or pit bull bites the robber, the robber goes to jail with vehement words about how aggressive your dog was, and now your rottie and pit are tested for aggressiveness at which they can be deemed unfit for public and could be euthanized if seemingly a danger to society.

I love my rottie and I am pretty sure if a robber came into my house, she would bite until biting was impossible.  But this is her protecting her family like any dog would do, not her being an aggressive predator that will annihilate all humans.

I dont have a big dog, but i can relate with you (being an animal lover). It is sad the rep people have given these protectors. They can be so sweet in loveable! The ones that end up in the news are normally the ones that abused or mistreated or mistaught!
Take Care,

Yeah i believe that dogs help out more than they do made worse....people do not treat dogs very well and often get fined for it but i dont think they get fined enough...now i dont think killing an animal is tied with a human but the penelty should be greater.

What about pit bulls that bite children playing in their own back yard? That happened to me. The dog had, unfortunately escaped from it's drug-dealer owners, and I guess decided that a ten year old in her own yard was threatening enough to bite. Granted, this poor animal had probably been abused, but the point most shelters make about pit bulls is that this viciousness is inherent because it has been BRED into the animals, not taught.

The aggression is taught. All dogs are unpredictable which is why I would not suggest having a dog when a child is very young and does not understand to not pull a dogs tail. Usually, kids can be pretty aggravating for any dog because kids scream and scurry making the dog nervous. Also children are small so a dog will feel like it can dominate a child. But when dogs are taught form puppyhood onward to deal with the whims of children then usually they will not bite a child. But a dog who hasn't been raised around children might get extremely nervous if all the sudden there is this little body running around and screaming.

Rotties are still at the top of the best family dog list, especially in countries where they are respected and usually have nice homes such as in Germany. In America and Mexico, where dog fights take place abundantly, these dogs are more aggressive. Now these dogs are naturally territorial. But not naturally aggressive. They are naturally protective. So if a child or adult decides to overstep these types of dogs boundaries, then they are likely to get bitten.

Now it is true that some dogs do inherit aggressiveness, and that can be any dog. But this is because something went terribly wrong with the line. That is what happens with pit bulls rarely, mostly they are aggressive because of owners. But rotties are a natural breed who stem from Romania. Breeders did not mix two types of dogs to get a rottie. Rotties are their own breed, so no big flaws occur when these animals have babies except for in looks. Most dogs can be taught tenderness from the start, but that is up to the owner. If the owner misses that crucial period to start socializing their dog, then they will have a very nervous animal on their hands. Nervous does not mean aggressive. Nervousness can lead to fear which leads to an aggressive act.

i have a pit bull and they are constantly being attacked as a breed as well. It is so ignorant to claim a breed to be bad, it is all in the owners. We need stricter policies on negligent owners and starting putting blame where is belongs!
