Sorry Officer, but do you really care?

As I was flagged down yesterday for speeding 45 mph in a 35 mph zone, i questioned the motives of the legal system. This little fiasco cost me $150, and probably two points off of my liscence.

The cops dont care if you speed a little bit when no one is around, really think about it. They know that there isnt any one around, and that 10 miles over isnt really a big deal. They just want to collect money for the city.

HAve you ever been caught doing something bad, that wasnt a huge deal but they slapped you with a huge fine.

Graffiti fines are something like $350 per count. Say you had been tagging all over the city for years or you and your buddies had been tagging all over for a long time the same word, but you got caught doing it. You would be charged for all of those counts... now thats alot of moolah to be spending.

Caught with drugs...tack on all kinds of cash for legal fees....you'd be owing alot of money.

I just feel like the judicial system focuses so much on money and not rehabilitation. Like if you get caught doing graffiti, i just wish there were more programs that continued on for a long time to actually correct problems. Or if the money went toward public graffiti walls, and you had to clean what you damaged.

My friend got a DUI, had to pay somewhere around $4,000 and had to go to 5 AA classes. I dont know anyone who ever got helped by just 5 AA classes. I wish they had to pay $4000 towards their own recovery and restoring whatever they damaged.

But I have yet to see this from our legal system and our lovely police force. I think we need a change to improve our people.

When our people are cared for, then our world is cared for....its time we all learn that and employ it in our daily lives.

But sometimes cops need the tickets. Cops (some) need to write so many tickets to make their "goal" I guess for the department. If everyone is doing it also, they aren't going to waste time on so many people. If one person is they will pick on you for it. They should put money towards recovery, but a ticket pretty much is suppose to be an incentive not to do it again. After so many tickets here you get a letter telling you to go to traffic school. If you don't go you are put in jail. I guess it varies from situation to situation.

DUI. It would be nice to put that towards recovery but they are thinking more about other people's well being. I understand where you are coming from though.

Actually I believe some money should be going to the police. They don't make what they should for such a dangerous job.

Love comments? I do too!

Going 45 mph on a 35 mph street is a issue. That isn't something that should be ignore. That 10 mph difference has been a life and death situation before.

Police don't just give people ticket because they want the money for the city or state. In your case it quite clear that you violated the speed limit, not saying that there are not other people that does it too. If the police don't enforce the law we put in place than who will? Tell the people that die from a 5 mph speed difference that your 10 mph speed difference is no big deal.

Graffiti is a problem too. How would you like it if someone come and paint nonsense on your house? No one would really like it if it happen to them. Same deal with the city. City don't like it when people put graffiti on their property. It cost tax money that you, I, and everybody have to pay to undo the damage.

DUI is a major deal too. It take thousand of life watch year. Such huge fine is to discourage future responsibility. You don't want the fine, don't drink and drive. It not that hard to do.

Of course these are big deals. thats my point....

what im saying is these are the symptoms of bigger issues. If you take care of the people then they will take care of eachother. and people will take care of each other.
