DOS/Intolerance

So, yesterday was the Day of Silence and I must say, it was rather hard.

With the intolerant teachers and the "are you serious?!" looks from people, I was completely at a loss.

It all started when I walked on the bus and didn't say hi to my friends. They were like, "WTF!" and I showed them the paper and some of them were cool with it and others gave me the "you're really for GLBT?"

It really opened my eyes. It was like an out-of-body experience. I really listened to what people were saying and paid close attention to body language. There were so many "FAGGSSS"" and so many "YOURESOGAYYY" remarks. I couldn't believe it.

Then, the ever so dreadful Spanish teacher. =.=
We'll call him Mr. Jerk.

Well. Mr. Jerk got angry after asking me to say something in spanish, and I flashed my paper at him. His face went from :D to O_O to >.<
It was like seeing a book in different chapters.
So anyway, he gave me my progress report and had given me 0/20 for last weeks participation and I was like. OHHHELLNo. So I went up to him with a piece of paper and wrote that I had no idea what was going on. And do you know when he told me? "Megan, flojita, es tu problema."
I was sooo pissed. I cracked.
I stormed back to my seat. He called me lazy because I wasn't talking. He gave me a zero for not speaking. I sat down with a pissy look and said. "ASSHOLE"
Kinda. Ergh. I shouldn't of talked because it just made me look prissy. But, he got offended. I flashed my paper at him and looked away.

I knew his intolerance may have been from his upbringing. Nevertheless, it still was frustrating knowing that society is so grr at GLBT's.

Intolerance irritates me.
To the nth degree.

I can't wait til Oct. 23 ^_^

I have had the same experience with peers saying everything (and more) that you mentioned, and it has always bothered me, not just today.

But all of my teachers, while maybe not supportive, have always allowed people to be silent and have not taken points off. It is such a shame.

EDIT: One of my teachers even told us that we did not have to participate if we were silent today. Obviously we had to pay attention, but we were not required to participate verbally or by writing on scraps of paper to answer the question.
