The West Memphis 3: The Juvenile Side of American Law

I first heard about the WM3 about 3 years ago from a pastor who is into the whole metal music can be Christian. I still send him emails and talk to him even though I am no longer a Christian. But what horrified me, was what happened to these young men. I won't go into detail about what happened because frankly, there is a lot to go through, so check out the website and wikipedia to learn about this whole situation. People have asked why did this happen to these three boys? I've heard everything from shoddy police work, the rabid fear that all satanists were child killers and molesters that was happening during that period in time, a religious conspiracy, pressure by the families and media to convict someone, anyone, just as long as someone was convicted. What do I think it was? I think it was a mix of shoddy police work, the Satanic Panic of the late 70's through the early 90's, and pressure from the media. I think it's ludicrious to say that it was a religious conspiracy. Oh and one more thing added to the conviction....these weren't the best kids in the world, they were troubled, the typical response from people with overactive imaginations is that these young adults are the murders because they dabled in satanism and because they were different. It is wrong to be a freak, yes I said freak, I like being called a freak because this whole normal crap is bullshit. They were singled out because they were different.

This wasn't a fair trial, it was as in the words of Clarence Thomas, "a high-tech lynching." This has brought America and the political law system to trial, but no one seems to notice or care. What has the American legal system and Americans learned? Nothing, only a minority of people have learned from this trial. America should have and needs to learn this from the trial...that policie are imperfect and human, but they need to be held accountable when they do wrong. That satanists aren't even devil worshippers, satanists don't believe in God or the devil, unless they're a theistic group, which are few. And that just because the family and media want blood, doesn't mean that you pick the "losers" and "freaks" of society because they're different, to be led to the slaughter.

Society is corrupt, the political law system is corrupt, morals are falling on all sides, and no one in America is awake to this. They are stuck inside their little bubbles. People everyday are being convicted based on shoddy work and for being freaks and losers. It is time America stood beside the freaks and losers and anyone who is different because no one is normal. Until then we are failing and falling. Long live the West Memphis 3, may they not be forgotten whether they stay in jail or are finally freed. And may America wake up from her slumber and be the country she once was.
