Things That Don't Make Sense

I'm a stand-up comedian, opened for some successful comedians and I look at things in life and wonder about them. These are few things that I don't get in the country or the world. Some probably have simple answers, some probably not:

If they are trying to promote literacy in the world, why do books cost $7.99-$14.95? I know there are libraries, but not everyone has access to one - and they are intimidating.

I was at Burger King the other day, and they said they couldn't serve me because the broiler was broken. Shouldn't that be the only thing they worry about in Burger King? The broiler?

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. - What if you don't like lemonade?

Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. - What if the box had a label with the contents? What now Forrest Gump?

The War in Iraq - wars in general. - Enough said.

No selling pop or bad food in school - I don't think they realize people can still bring them in. And if the child wants something, he or she will get it someway or another.

If they are trying to promote education in the world why does college cost anywhere from $15-$50 thousand dollars per year? And then, why do some that need it, not qualify for financial aid?

There is no "I" in "TEAM". But if you rearrange the letters you can find a "ME".

Very good points! I laughed out loud at the Forest Gump one.

In all the time I've been on ProgU I never knew you were a comedian. There are two ironies with this right now: 1. I just got back from the University coffee shop where I saw a stand-up comedian perform and 2. I was about to write about how we could really use "progressive comedians" in a blog entry.

Oh the ironies of life....
