I go to school in probably the best county for education in Georgia, and yet...I'm completely dissatisfied. The only time I've ever been satisfied is when I went to the GA Governor's Honors Program and when I starting taking college classes for joint enrollment at Kennesaw State. It's always "test scores this, test scores that," and I'm growing pretty exhausted.
Here's an example of something Georgia officials are trying to do in order to change GA education:
The Atlanta school system plans to open up single-gender classes "in hopes of raising test scores and improving discipline." I don't you about know about how education is in other states, but I do know that when a group of boys are together, they're rowdy and uncontrollable. When a group of girls are together, they are whiney gossipers who are self-interested only. Now I'm not saying all boys and all girls are like this, but the truth is: they can be. If schools are supposed to be simulating "reality," they sure aren't doing a good job when classes are separated by gender. The fact of reality is thus: without interaction with the opposite sex, behavior development will be hindered. When these kids leave their single-sex schools and classes, they may not know how to deal with the opposite sex! Save single-sex classes for college, please.

Just about everywhere I go the boys are seperated from the girls. I haven't even gotten the chance to meet the boys and learn their names. They do need to save single-sex classes for college.
