As an educator and a small business owner I know how expensive education can be.
People don't understand why preschool can run in the $700 range at some centers
For a small business owner, this is MY SOUL SOURCE of income. I have to figure in my fixed expenses like mortgage in order to do this. Not only that but I have to figure and budget how much I spend in food a week and supply the kids with things to do.
When you figure it out I am making barely the minimum wage. Teaching is one of the LEAST respected fields in America. If we TRULY respected teachers we would be paying them a whole lot more than what we do now.
If I wanted to make it $8.00 an hour I doubt anyone could afford it and that's what it should be. I worked at a school that paid its teachers $12.43 an hour os so and that was pretty good.
For what we are doing for your children and what we are providing for them, CHILDCARE SHOULD BE PRICELESS. Ask yourself, "WHAT IS YOUR CHILD WORTH." and if your preschool or provider is doing a good job and they are blossoming, don't complain.
In an ideal world, one of the parents would stay home with their child and raise them. Sometimes its tough for working parents to make sure their children are socially learning all they need to learn.
An educator who protects the interest of your child is priceless.

I agree. Unfortunately, celebrities and professional athletes make more than educators, researchers, doctors, and social workers. It would be nice if the wage tables would turn.
