I was just looking at my classes for next semester and was on ratemyprofessor.com. I started looking at some of the old professors I had. One of my favorite professors, I went to her name and found that she had mostly fives by every aspect of her name except for easiness that was an average 4. This was for a psychology 225 class, learning about lifespan development. What got to me is the fact that many students will never have this teacher.
My class last semester was the last class, the teacher ever taught at my school in a classroom. While I was in this class, there was a woman that made her life horrible. She was a teacher and a parent, so she tried to make everything easy for her classes because she knew we too had other obligations. The teacher would discuss things in class with a spin to them or a funny story to help us remember the complex things that we talked about. Unfortunately this one lady either should never have been in the class or just was too set in her ways. The teacher gave us answers for the exams on line, she would give practice tests with 50 questions each chapter. Those questions would be mixed up to make up the exam along with some random questions she would throw in. We were all aware of this if you came to class. The older lady rarely came to class. It was considered mandatory even though my teacher didn't take attendence. She said it was more of a gift to yourself to show of for class. The week after the test we got our grades back and were able to look at the exams but not keep them. My professor had graded them but encouraged us to go over them with her. The older lady was not happy because she felt she didn't do as well on the exam as she had wanted and wanted her exam back. but the teacher said no. The issue went to the dean and the teacher had her class reviewed the rest of the semester and had to have all her exams checked over by a fellow professor.
I found this very saddening. It broke my heart because after that semester, my favorite teacher decided she did not want to teach at my school. She said she didn't want to deal with people like that anymore, who were from a more properous community and used to being able to get whatever they want or pay for it. This really bothered me. That my teacher felt that it was too much work to teach.
Karma came back to bite and there was positive. This semester, the lady was in another of my classes (my luck right?). It was a online religious class that wanted us to be open to other views and at least non-objectively look at other religions. She got kicked out of my class when she wrote about her own views and ripped apart others calling them names that were really. My professor told her to be open and respectful because it was a religion class and there were lots of people in it. She continued to do the same things after reading about another religion. She would call inferior to hers, or just write about her own religion. She was booted from my class, and the school is looking into if she should be allowed because of the trouble she has been causing.

That's a sad story. People like that ruin everything for the rest of us.

yea it really sucks, I was bummed because she taught higher psychology classes. I would have to switch schools now to have her though, and that's not happening.
I really like your quote/signature. It's so true, we all think we understand sometimes and we truly don't because we don't look past the surface.
Thank you!
