Prom Court

Today I voted......but not for a Presidential Candidate, for Prom Court. I was sitting in homeroom and all of a sudden my teacher sent back a piece of paper with all the names of everyone in my class and I had to pick both a male and female, from my class, to be on Court. I thought for a moment..."who cares,” so I randomly picked 2 names but before I went to hand over my pointless vote I stopped. I had just become the person I NEVER wanted to be, I had thrown away my vote. Although it may have only been on something as silly as the Prom Court it was still my vote, I still had the opportunity to put in my 2 cents worth. I thought back to all the days when the people who just didn’t care in which direction our nation was heading would confuse me, I remember being so disappointed in my generation. So, there I was, becoming a complete hypocrite of my own beliefs. I quickly grabbed back the paper and put an effort forth; ultimately, it's only Prom Court but I still exercised my right to something many Americans neglect to do, vote. Now, I can honestly say I gave it an effort and I exercised my right to vote even if it was only for something like Prom Court.

That's inspiring. I know personally, I cannot wait to get the homecoming King/ Queen ballot out of my hand( it seems to be nothing but a banal popularity contest) but I will now keep that in mind when it comes time to vote prom king/queen
