Butchers and Monsters
Usually I would flip through the MacLean’s magazine scanning the pages before going to bed, but the April 7th 2008 issue was different. Most people who read MacLean’s would remember this issue as the greatest issue or the worst. To me, this cover story was the perfect example of Western ignorance and how that is leading us to another crusade.
When I received the April 7th issue of MacLean’s, I stared at the cover so intensely that I felt like Cyclops, “Butchers and Murderers”, was the title in black, the background of yellow and red letters that read “things we can never forget about Communist China”. This title was especially significant in donating to my boiling anger because the colors, I believe, carried a hiding meaning. The red subscripts and the yellow background represented China, as a country, and the bold black letters represented how the Communist party was eating China alive. The title was slapped, police tape style, across the cover by a six year old. Behind the suggestive title was a photograph taken by someone with perfect timing, the picture features an army personal, obviously Chinese, moments before he would strake a Tibetan monk. From the picture, it bothers me to think that the Chinese government would approve of international photographers taking live footage of inhumane assaults form several feet away, but not permit my grandparents from taking beef jerky on a plane. After half and hour of trying to melt the cover with my laser eyes, I noticed the background markets advertising in complete English. In China farmers were not likely to have received an Education, let alone have the knowledge of writing in perfect English. Then I realized, the cover wasn’t taken in China, and the characters were just actors.
This cover story by John Fraser was probably the perfect example of Western ignorance towards the world now, and towards history. The three countries that are most anti-Chinese are Canada, the United States of America, and the UK. None of those countries have spectacular histories with human rights. In Canada, the government ripped native children from their parents thus separating them from their native history and tradition. Then the children were forced into reeducation institutions here English and Christianity was pressured into the innocent minds of what was once peace and tradition. As a matter of fact, Canada didn’t treat Chinese people equally until the railroad was built. Now the US, the holy land for modern racism and discrimination, the world’s biggest country but the world’s smallest brains are trying to teach China about human rights. Through out history, America was 0 mile for the KKK, and slavery, human rights was believed that only humans have rights, so the Blacks and Asians weren’t considered humans; more like wild work horses. Throughout England’s vast history, every single kind of people have been discriminated against, from Puritans to women, from Indians to Blacks, the English even discriminated against their own children. What I’m trying to prove is the fact that none of those countries have the rights to bring up the equality when their own country doesn’t live up to standards, it had set for China. As a matter of fact, the only place in the West where a country could try and stop China, would be Iceland or maybe Greenland.
We now live in a time which I would like to call the modern Crusade, or the Age of Politics. The first crusades took place from 1095-1272, where the Europeans decided to spread Christianity forcefully on to the Muslims. The idea is repeating itself, but instead of Christianity being the spread, it is now democracy. Since America removed the Taliban from Afghanistan and shoved in democracy, it became the dropping stone for what would become an even bloodier war against something no one really chose. The Western leaders has now gotten into their thick skulls that the world should be one, Europe now has the same currency, and we would fight like our Crusader ancestors to accomplish that dream no matter what stands in our way. Off course this being the 21st century, the thick skulls went to have tea, or in America’s case a hamburger, and sent some poor soldier to fight. Actually, the modern crusade wasn’t that different from the First Crusades; the First Crusades started because the people thought that fighting could protect the holy land, the modern crusade started because people thought that fighting could save the West from Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. This time it was once again the Christians going after the Muslims, and it all started in the Middle East. So peoples of the world prepare yourselves for the biggest war ever, because some thick skull in America has decided that everybody in the world should have a taste of freedom and democracy and they are going to fight their Yankee butts while we get blown apart by friendly fire.
America is trying to teach China about democracy, what a laugh. Western ignorance of history has reached an all time high, so high world war three actually is really a repeat of what happened nine hundred years ago. So the people of the world, stop sticking your heads in sand and stand up to the nonsense of people like John Fraser who wants to mouth feed us and think for ourselves.
