Always the one to try new things, for lunch today I got something different than my typical choice of iced tea or soda. The drink is called Tava and something interesting on the label caught my eye. To the left of what I would assume is the front of the drink, there is a small paragraph of writing that is upside down. Here’s what my bottle told me:

“Right now, people are wondering why you’re staring at an upside down bottle. They don’t realize that maybe there’s a different way of looking at the world. You, however, had courage….Could you imagine if life was always viewed right side up?”

How cool is it that my beverage has progressive thoughts? It brings up a point that resonates strongly for everyone in the world: if no one was “different”, could there be progress?

If Galileo and Newton and countless others hadn’t been bold enough to make their now-famous theories, what state of mind would we all be in. Would everything still revolve around the Earth? Would we have ever invented airplanes or helicopters to defy the gravity that Newton pointed out was there all along?

Seeing old things in a different way is how we have inventions and innovation. Challenging previous ideas is how we advance scientifically and psychologically.

We cannot be afraid to change old ways of thinking, simply because they seem as timeless as cultural tradition. The American culture may evolve to the point where divorce seems completely irrational and abortion is okay as long as its within a certain time period. This could be good or bad if you ask me, but we still can’t be afraid to try new things.

Just make sure the cap is on before you turn stuff upside down.

That's such a great way to get people's attention, by having writing upside down. Also a great way to make people feel good, by letting them know how great you think they are. Even if you are just a bottle of some random drink bottle.

I feel a little bit inspired by that bottle, I must admit. Maybe I'll give people lots and lots of complements tomorrow...

I feel inspired by the message on the bottle too, even if it is some sort of marketing technique to sell more "Tava" drinks.

I have had Tava before it has a unique taste. Like club soda and a slushie at the same time. I do not know it is hard to describe.

You have a good point. People are so afraid to try new things and new views, because they may fear that it will change them. But I totally agree.

I like how you related it to Tava. That is a strange...rather good drink. That brings me to purple cow. I do not know if you ever tried it. It is Vanilla Ice cream with grape Juice. It has a rather odd taste but not as nasty as I thought it would be.

It's nice to know I can always count on you to rate and read my blogs and the same favor is given back! People are not rating to much lately I noticed... strange. Good blog

Purple cow? I'll have to try that.

Yeah, even though I'm big into trying new foods, I was very hesitant last year to try the deep fried oreos at the fair because I thought they sounded gross. Turns out that they taste really good.

Yup, I'll continue to rate and comment. It's the least I can do.

speaking of deep fried foods that don't sound ilke they'd be good...

deep fried snickers bars at the fairs are amazing! But incredibly rich. You need like 3 other people to share them with.

There are also 2 new drinks floating around that I do NOT recommend. I think A&W makes them. Like orange dreamsicle and rootbeer float--in a bottle. I had one of each mailed to me once, because I was doing product testing. They taste like death and despair. I wrote that in the survey, but I guess they didn't listen.

I give you points for honesty. Death and despair...that's just hilarious. The drink could also be like A&W's and Orange Julious' illigitamate love child.

I've never heard of deep fried snickers bars, but I suppose trying one if I ever get the chance wouldn't kill me.

*Fast forward 2 years*

Newscaster:...And she would've survived if she hadn't eaten that deep friend snickers bar...

First of all, I love when labels on food and drink are progressive! It makes me smile, and then people wonder what I'm so happy about.

And...everyone keeps saying that deep fried oreos are delicious...
But honestly, some things, I think, were never meant to be deep fried...plus, weren't Oreos enough of a junk food to begin with?
*frets*
I'm going to be forced to try them one day...it'll turn out like that episode of Spongebob where Squidward had his first Krabby Patty, I guess....
I just know if I try one, and it IS delicious, I'll be hopelessly addicted! Gah!

And that's comin' at ya' from yer local redneck hippie.

That was my exact response when I heard about deep fried oreos. I was utterly grossed out by the very idea of them. But my friend who was also working at the fair with me persuaded me to try them. I was imagining the oreo to look like fried chicken, but it was different. The oreo is dipped in something like pancake batter and put in the deepfryer for a little while so the batter cooks. Instead of being some crusty fried object, is was a soft cookie that tasted really good.

Of course, they're bad enough for you, but fairs only come around one time of the year. Country fairs, anyway.

But Scouting events happen often, and I'm often at them with my brothers!
Besides...I'm already addicted to a strange combination of funnel cake and fries whenever I visit the fair...

I need no other deep fried goodies.
Not when I'm finally getting into a healthier lifestyle...

I LOVE FUNNEL CAKES!!!!

*ahem*

I mean, I rather enjoy the cake of funnely goodness. They are my crack. And I'm no druggie, so I hope the phrase isn't lost on you.

I eat funnel cakes with boardwalk fries. It's weird, but I've got a funnel cake smothered in powdered sugar, and fried smothered in ketchup. Funel cake gets dipped in the ketchup, fries (ketchup and all) get plopped into the powdered sugar...

It's rather delicious. You should try it sometime.

I dip Wendy's chicken nuggets and fries into the chocolate frosty. I have no doubt in my mind that funnel cake and fries is delicious. :-)

I do that too! I told my friend to try it and she was like ewww but she tried it and liked it. It really is pretty good.

Also pudding on top of ice cream is rather good.

I actually knew right away that the title was ProgressiveU backwards...
But I think that has to do with an old hobby of mine...I went through a phase a few years back where I turned the English language backwards. As a result, I can pretty much read backwards.

Wow, how can you you use this skill in everyday life? I guess you automatically know what peoples' shirts say when they are reflected in mirrors and windows. Could you teach your skill to kids who have certain learning disabilties?

I sat here for about 5 minutes trying to sound it out. Then I wondered why only the P and the U were capitalized. I finally figured it out tho. I'm not the smartest person. Haha.

That's funny. There was a story on NPR about a guy who designs floating islands, and the story closed with a sentiment much like your blog. Innovators have to think big and think different.

I love foods and drinks that have progressive or educational facts on the wrappers! I always feel like I'm being extra smart while I'm eating or drinking those items.

What if there was something educational on every food or drink? Let's capitalize on the fact that so many of our people are obese or overweight and make Americans the smartest people on Earth by putting information and progressive thoughts on all of our food!
