I've been noticing throughout the internet, various instances of public opinions that are either misguided, misinformed, or misanthropic. It's like looking into a boiling pot in which everything sinks equally, and you can't determine where one subject ends and another begins--as they all begin to look and sound the same.
I've come to see that there is such a thing as illogical arguments and opinions put forth by those with a varying superficial understanding of what they speak of. Free from the responsibility to have to cite our sources in what is a public discussion, it's quite easy to tout a tautology without reverence for any regards as to the validity of your references. Many seem to seek a way in which to instill a false sense of mystery, dread, or awe in their visible provocativeness.
Yet, numerous trends also emerge from the teething womb of popular topics tangled in a litany of followers; all expressing opinions on every side of the spectrum. Some themes are common in this respect , inspiring a certain sense of historical controversy with topics such as religion, homosexuality, science and the general joys of the human experience. How easily do some opinions change? Do you ever feel yourself growing and evolving into an ever higher awareness?
A room full of diverse value systems really helps to rattle the cage a little bit. Debate and exchange ideas on equal ground, if any exists. Not just talk superficially about various ideas, but to build posts that contextualize the mood of our thoughts towards some semblance of truth, genuine and unadulterated. Well, perhaps with a few good perspectives gathered from what your eyes behold.
I had an enriching, refreshing, unending conversation with someone just a few days ago and was surprised that it had been so long since I was earnestly engaged in discussion. Such a lack of good debate and conversation abounds among the cynical youth, apathetic in what is often a drug-induced stupor. Are we too disconnected from the social world as a result of our co-evolution with such exponential sources of information and entertainment--a gaze dazed in the cyclical trance with our personal realities?
iPods, P2Ps, cellphones, obscurity, especially among small school sizes, you see a neurotic population of histrionic geniuses, each performing their own one-man-shows to an often confused and frightened surrounding neighborhoods. Oops, there I go with my anecdotes. I suppose I'll just end where that sentence begins.
