What happened to all the good cartoons? What happened to all the "classics?" Why is it not worth waking up every Saturday morning to watch cartoons?
I remember loving Sailor Moon, Tom & Jerry, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Bugs Bunny, The Superfriends, and countless others. But I can't find them anymore. (Although I could find some if I felt like shelling out extra money to get Boomerang.) Do you remember when Cartoon Network actually played cartoons 24/7? Now they've got live action and animation and live action crosses. Should they then change their name to “Not Always Cartoon Network?”
It also seems like when there is a cartoon decent and worth watching, for me it was Justice League, it's gone. Don't get me wrong, some of the cartoons that run are pretty good- but they're not great. They just seem to be lacking something that the older ones had. Then there are those that seem totally pointless and make you ask "Who actually watches this?"
Maybe it seems silly that I would miss something seemingly childish like cartoons, but doesn't everybody deserve a half hour of being a kid again? With as crazy as this world is, 30 minutes of cartoons can be a great escape. But what kind of escape is there when you can’t find a cartoon you love?

You remember the Frontline coverage we watched over the teen driven markets in English class? The "cool hunters"? It's the same way. What kids want to see morphs and gets gaudy, so Cartoon Network has to keep up with that to stay on the air. They figure they should cater to the coming nine year olds who want to see Star Wars rip offs and badly dubbed Japanimation; not grown individuals that miss the classics. We have gone on to become the "Desperate Housewives" market, in their eyes.

I love cartoons, let me just say that. But I despise Cartoon Network. All the shows I grew up with used to still be on whenever I turned on the TV. And yet... slowly they began to disappear. Until we have what we have today: nothing. Actually, that's not true, there is the occasional re-run during the summer or on the weekends. But I stress the word occasional. At one point there was Toonami during the week, which was awesome, then all of the cool Toms died and we were left with Thomas the Train and friends (I don't know if they're still there or not). After Toonami was Miguzi and Toonami went to the weekends. It was okay then, but I hated turning on the TV and finding that my favorite show had changed time slots (which frequently happened with little to no warning). But one day... even Miguzi was gone. If it's still there, I have no idea, but it just kept changing shows until what I knew as Miguzi was lost. Even WB in the morning is gone. I think the CW is trying to fix that, but... who knows? I won't watch it anyway. All the good cartoons have long since ended. Or are on at ridiculous times because none of the little kids like to watch them. CN lost most of its older fan base when it got rid of the more serious shows and replaced them with... shows that are really only meant for children. Sure, there's still Adult Swim, but who wants to stay up every night all night just to watch TV that you enjoy? Not me.
All I have to say is: Bring the Superheroes back. Children still love them!
