There are some problems in society that can be fixed rather easily. The two biggest ones, as far as kids are concerned, is A.D.D. and obesity.
One thing that I realize about kids and A.D.D. is that they do not really go outside and run around. They sit in front of the television babysitter and all the kinetic energy inside just bottles up. That is the main reason why kids bounce off the walls. I notice this in my nieces and nephews. If they do not go outside all day they are bouncing off the walls and do not have any attention span. But if you take them to the playground and let them run around by the time they get home they want to lie down and relax.
Now if you would take your kid out to play and run around this would also help with obesity. It is proven that physical activity will help with a child and their obesity problem.
This solution will help two problems. It’ll will also give the child social skills as they play with other kids and could also be used as a bonding time for you and your children. I guess they just don’t make parents how they used to.

They sure don't make parents like they used to.
Parent's now are 20 year old chubby people that aren't ready to have the responsibility of another life.
NOW. Anyone reading that-don't think that is what I mean of ALL of them.
No kidding. I hope to God I'm like my mom when I'm a parent. Kids today are just horrible. I visit my middle school teachers and can't believe these bratty, materialistic, rude idiots are going to actually participate in society someday.
I agree with you full heartily. It is a lack of dicipline. Parents refuse to spank their children. Some because they don't believe in it others because they are afraid of the tight restrictions on child abuse. But any normal thinking person knows where the thin line between dicipline and abuse is and knows not to cross it.
And from personal experience, when I did somthing in which deserved a spanking I never did do it again.
I've never been a true believer in spanking -- but I got my share of them anyways, haha. But seriously, as much I would never want to hit my own kids, I swear some of the kids people are pushing out deserve an all-out shaking while you scream "why are you like this?! stop acting like you know everything! you're 10!"
It's a shame people aren't more restrictive when it comes to their children. They learn that they can walk all over people and do whatever they want, whenever they want. It makes me fear for my older years, when they're "all grown up" and taking care of me in the home.
Ya know..I would say the same thing about the spanking-except that more than half the time, I didn't deserve it. Jenna would lie about things and I would get spanked because they wouldn't listen to my side of the story.
It's hard not to do something you never did in the first place :S
I would honestly rather be like my grandparents than my parents. Just because i'm old fashioned that way.
However--I went to a college EMT class with my dad every week for about a year when I lived at home. This new semester I couldn't believe how terrible the kids in the class were..and these are COLLEGE kids! They were all EXTREMELY rude, and didn't know when to shutup (there were MAYBE 5 people in the class that had manners-and 2 of them had to have been over 30 years old).
Parents have stopped being parents. They let everyone else (including the TV) raise their kids. If more people realized what a bit of fresh air does for kids, children would be soo much healthier. I was spanked, I watched Tv very rarely until I was older and played outside all the time. And I'm a lot better off than some.
And I plan to raise my future kids the same way.
At this very moment, somewhere a committee is deciding your life, only you weren't invited
i couldn't agree more. Children are jsut pleing video games and perents wonder why their kids are fat or have to much energy or can't concentrate.. its.. ridiculus..
Glad to see you agree.
One question-do you type really fast, or...?
It is the technology just as much as it is the parents faults. Before kids had nothing to do inside, now they do.
how can you say that? Why don't you blame the parents? The parent choose to let their child watch the tv, play video games, be on the computer, instead of making them go outside or anything. The parents let them do these things-and doesn't try to make them be active.
I am saying that it is not all the parents faults. There are more things to do inside now so it is harder to make kids go outside than it used to be. It is not one or the other it is a combination.
I think we may be talking about different age groups.
I no personally my parents tried to make me go outside as much as possible but there was the resistance of me wanting to watch tv or play video games, something that they did not have to deal with as much 30 years ago.
I never really had those options..I was always outside working or playing, I guess that just comes naturally growing up on 10 acres though..or something.
I agree that what a lot of kids really need is more physical activity, not Ritalin and other drugs, but ADD/ADHD is more then just a lack of exercise. The right kinds of exercise can help anyone to concentrate, but that may not be enough for someone who really does have ADD.
Well it does not really have to be exercise as in weight lifting and all. I was just talking about any form of physical activity. But if an "ADD" child is obese they could gear both problems into exercise.
i think if that was really a solution for a child that acually had ADD doctors would let parents know. As far as I know kids with really ADD exercise will not help that actual sickness.
See but you have to look at it from the doctors view. If you really have the choice to get money from a patient unquestioned or tell them what to do what would you do? I mean it is the same concept as I believe there is a cure out there for cancer but they won’t release it because they make too much money off of the chemo treatments. Which they might also not release it because later on the world would be over populated.
Now I am not really saying that ADD doesn't exist. It might, but no one on here is a medical doctor to know for sure. But I do believe that it is over used in children today. Every time a kid acts out it is a sudden diagnosis of ADD.
Now I want to throw something out to you. Say if a kid’s parents never paid attention to them over time would you think they would get into the habit of acting out non stop for attention? I think it is more of a habitual thing then anything else; much like smoking to a newly started smoker.
Doctors make no more money from prescribing a kid with ritalin than prescribing them with more exercise. Doctors get paid for the visits not the drugs they prescribe.
Yes they do because, at least in my doctors office, you can buy the drugs right there.
The doctors don't get any of the it is all profits to the drug companies.
Yes they do. Its the idea of economics. If the drug companies sell the doctor and his office the drugs he in turn will sell them higher to make a profit.
That isn't true.
Say you go to the doctor and are diagnosed with something, anything, which in turn you are given a prescription for a drug.
The doctor makes money off your visit, makes money off diagnosing you, makes money from the drugs you buy. The pharmacy that you get drugs from makes money, as well as the company that makes the drug. (The drug companies), and, of course-the government. The government gets money because of the patents.
It is kind of like a commision (sp) thing. Like at a clothing store, you get a commission on every sale you make--the doctors make money like a commission on the drugs they prescribe to you.
Where did you get that info from?
My mom is an ER nurse.
