Normally, my blogs/articles, post an opinion, suggestion, or idea, but in this one I'd like to pose a question. I need logical answers, and I thought I'd come to my fellow bloggers for some valid ideas.
When I started at the current job I have a little over two months ago, I was promised 39 hours a week, day time hours, and later I was promised to move to a slightly higher position, with higher pay. The latter offer came over a month ago. However, none of these initial garuantees have been fulfilled. My company knows that I will be leaving in less than two months, however they said it would not hinder the above mentioned promises.
Currently I have less than 20 hours a week, I am working nights, closing by myself, and I have not been trained for the new position, nor has my wage been increased to what was promised. Normally, I wouldn't mind, since this is just a summer job, but I have college tuition bills to pay and books to buy. I need the money, or at least hours they promised me.
I have talked to the manager directly above me several times, and she has promised to get this fixed, however she has obviously not taken care of it. So I went over her head, to a higher manager. He too promised to get everything worked out, but the problems still remain. I will leave the company in less than two months, but I would like to earn what I was promised for the remainder of my employment.
This is obviously my personal experience, but I was wondering if anyone has dealt with a similar situation, or has ideas for how to properly deal with this. It just makes me wonder, what the work force will be like if it continues this down hill. The American employee work ethic has already seen a decrease, but it is pathetic to see such a decrease among employers. I don't think students, and working class people should be treated unfairly. We have to make a living too-

Maybe go speak to someone even higher up? If you do and still nothing happens... you might be better off leaving that job and finding another for the remainder of the summer.
The higher up I mentioned is not only the highest in my store, but the highest in our whole section, so thats a dead end. I only have a few weeks left here, so other employers wouldn't be interested in training me for that short time.

Is it a corporation? Contact the company, or even better- contact your local news station. One station here accepts stories from people who have been scammed and tries to interview the company. I've seen them do it for situations similar to this.
Next time, don't believe that they are "going to" do things. If they were serious about it, they would give you all of those things in the first place.
