Well, here I am, in the flesh (sort of). The author of a new progressive blog has put on his cap, and is ready to get to work. I may not write as prolifically as some of these other bloggers, but I hope all of you find my posts insightful, or at the very least interesting.
I guess I should start by introducing myself, no? My name is Nelson, and I'm currently a senior in high school, in the San Francisco Bay Area (the "liberal part of California"). For the past few years I've been the president of my school's Democratic Student Union, and I'm quite left-leaning. This, I'm glad to say, comes not from some kind of rebellious drive, but from a careful examination of the issues.
I'm an atheist, and I'd like all human experiment (economics, politics, education) to be based on our best theories and observations of the world, rather than untested hypothesis. Thus, I am opposed to both Communists and Fascists equally, because my best reckoning puts the truth somewhere in the middle ground. (But don't worry, I'm friendly. I have both Communist and Fascist friends, and I get along with them well.)
I am also a geek. I believe technology is terribly important to our culture and progress, and I'd like those in charge to harness the power of such things as the Internet, so we can make society better. I'm a futurist, and I'd like to help create a world where humans can communicate and learn as much as we can.

This is a very well-writen blog, but I don't think the subject matter belongs on this site. You may want to read the FAQ section to see what kind of blogs are desired on this site. Aim for subject matter that is progressive. Check out the front page or my blog if you want for examples: http://www.progressiveu.org/blog/1060601
ehhh...as long as your future blogs are "progressive"....
I'm a lefty too...quite far towards the left end of the spectrum in fact...lol...I'm proud of that fact too...and I agree it has to be b/c of examination of the issues...the demographics show that mostly the undereducated are liberal..but if you really look at the issues...it just makes sense...lol
I'm not Atheist...I'm Christian...but I'm minoring in religion next year and I find all religious views extremely interesting...so hopefully you'll post some blogs about the aspects of religion...that would be interesting and fit well within the site
and don't feel bad about being a geek...I'm a nerd...I'm a debater and speechie and it's my life...so it's okay...lol
I for one look forward to reading your future blogs
