High school exit exam III

Tagged:  •    •

This is in conjuction to my past two blogs on high school exit exam(high school exit exam and death of talent). There I lamented the fact that some students were fighting to eliminate the ridiculously simple high school exit exam in the state of california, which tests nothing but basic mathematical and linguistic skills taught in 8th and 9th grade.Dark clouds loomed large on the horizon when a sessions judge banned the exam calling it discriminatory. But today, there is much relief.A decision by another california court upheld the exam as legal and gave the approval to the education department to use it as a yardstick for graduation.Although the New York Times lamented this decision, there is nothing to lament. The decision, hailed by the education department as well as the governor,is to be embraced by the entire student community. It will certainly prevent the death of talent.

well, i took it to graduate, and i thought it was hard, but i passed. it's just that it's four years later and you have to review stuff you already learned on top of stuff you learned for you EOC for your current courses. It's not that you actually learn the material; you MEMORIZE enough so that you can pass, or at least that's what i did cause my classes were only half a year. i don't see the point in exit exams...
