where do you start? in person i usually make a good impression on people, so i guess i should try and do the same thing here in writing.
first things first: i should introduce myself:
my name is brittnie. i am 18 years young and i am an ambitious freshman at SDSU in california. i am a psychology major and i am trying to graduate in 3 years. i graduated from a small high school; my amazing senior class of 2007 was jam packed with a whole 109 kids. my high school experience was filled with anything a kid could ask for. i live at home. my parents are split up. i have a wonderful boyfriend of a little over 6 months now. his name is andre, and he is brazilian (sizzle). i am a Christian. i dont like capital letters when i write except for the important words.
i blog on livejournal, but i am at that point where i almost feel like i can no longer share my reality with the people on that site because these are the people that already know who i am. they know what i am about. i am old news, in a sense. so, im here to start new and possibly win some money for school.
i have a life story; if you pay attention and find me interesting maybe you will get to see a piece of who i am, what i have been through, and where i want to be. i am an open book and im ready to write about everything and anything.
so, here's to beginnings.

Newbie mistake #2 is blogging about your day to day activities... we don't care, unless something in your day made you think something profound about society.

I think what they were trying to say is: ProgressiveU about blogging about things that affect everyone and not just you. So if you have something interesting in your life that you can draw a parallel to others, go for it. The idea is to help others and improve society. Check out some of the FAQS here:

In addition, I would add my personal newbie mistake #3. If you want to succeed here at ProU, you're going to want to use proper grammar and spelling (we're not anal-compulsive or anything, a few mistakes is a-ok); this isn't AIM, so capitalize where appropriate.
