The E Club stands for the Environmental Club. I helped a couple of friends start this club last semester, and it has been an amazing turn out from other students in the school.
Well, someone asked me the other day, "Do you think this is solving the world's problems? Is that what you're out to do? Trust me, it's only affecting this school and you're not helping the world."
Wow, talk abotu a shutdown. Then I thought about it. I've always thought we were out for a safer, cleaner future, and to help the environment, but there are so many other things messed up in the world, that we're not even a miniscule help. Then again, I still feel as though what we are doing IS really important, whether it's affecting the world, or just a few people. I like what we do in the Environmental Club, we have a lot of fun. And we pick up trash all the time, we are assigned different areas around town. I did not like it when one of my good friends asked me that, because that really defeats the purpose of trying to help out. We're not trying to change the whole world, we just want to give it a bit of a push in the right direction so that it will change for the better. Is that so bad?

Your club sounds like a good step to making your local environment better. And it is contributing to the world. I have been wanting to organize a club in my school that would focus on the environment, but I never had the courage to actually try. Keep it up, and you might want to think about other projects besides just picking up litter.
Maybe your club isn't making a difference throughout the world. But you are making a difference on your campus. Besides, there are other clubs out there doing what you are doing, so in a way, you are helping the world. If you would like to make a bigger differece, though, you can. Get involved in your community, maybe start a a recycling program at your school if you don't have one, or team up with clubs at other campuses with similar goals. Also, tell your friend if she doesn't think you are helping anything, tell this friend that she should join so they can accomplish more.
act localy" I can't remember who said it, but it isn't a bad philosophy. After all, if more and more communities get groups like yours, that would be global change.
