Yes, you make a difference

I am about to start my graduation project soon I assume everyone understands what that means. However, what I find interesting is that my school dedicates an entire class for your senior and even junior year on getting the project done. So we get an hour everyday for two trimesters to simply work on our grad project to do whatever is necessary for them. Here is the even more interesting part most schools will push their kids into doing a project more geared towards sciences, math, English, a specific subject or at least it seems to be like that. However, at my school we are more innovative you pick whatever interests you whether it be music, dancing, writing a book, doing a science experiment, doing a conservation day, or politics whatever is your hobby, your interest you work on.

Which brings me to my idea that I think everyone should be in on. One person does make a difference. There are a lot of people that believe otherwise and think that they do not matter but I am trying to encourage people to get out and do something meaningful to them. Whether it be voting and expressing your opinion, doing a volunteer project or even if this helps you with your graduation project. Still don’t believe me in my home town there is this thing called a River walk that is going on in April, there is a march going on in May against Darfur why do I bring this up because they are making a difference just an idea that one person had. This post is not going to talk about a controversy of any kind but it may help you if you need a grad project idea or if you need to complete community service hours. River walk is one persons idea after they went to Africa and learned that women and children were spending the better part of their day endangering their safety to walk a huge distance say 40 miles was the longest I think to get the water they need for the day and making runs back and forth repeatedly. The walk for Darfur is actually a focus/ side hobby my friend is considering doing for her graduation project and there are going to be thousands of people at the event that have signed up to walk to protest against genocide in Darfur.

The main message I am trying to get across in all of this is that One person makes a huge difference. Don’t think so well if you are against some of the people we have in our government as a large majority of my hometown seems to be for example opposed to Bush think that if you voted against the person for someone else you wouldn’t think that made much difference would you well think of it in terms of pennies one penny doesn’t do anything you find one hundred pennies you now have a dollar. One hundred people might be feeling the same way that you might have about any politician in office if everyone took the time to vote instead of thinking they didn’t matter maybe those one hundred votes or even your one vote would make the difference in them getting in or not.

Organizations have been set up on the idea that one person makes a difference one in particular the Student Conservation Association if you would like to look that up they do some pretty cool stuff with the environment but guess what this fifty year running organization started because of a college students thesis paper that her teacher suggested she play out and now fifty years later it makes a huge impact on the improvement of trails and completes so many service project every year. You could be doing something like that. It does not have to be something you just read about someone else doing. It is not something that just happens in the movies. It is real life and it is now.

I know how that feels. I haven't been able to get on Progressive U for over a week so I badly need to catch up. Still, you may want to quickly read through your blogs before posting them. Could use a little grammar help.

At my school we could pick whatever we wanted for a senior project, but it had to be approved by the administration. We didn't get class time to work on our projects.
