pop culture is taking over our minds

When I watch TV I am totally discused at what I am watching. It is the same with magazines. Do famous people know they are looked up to by millions of people and a lot of them are children and teenagers my age? My cousin is from Michigan and she is obsessed with magazines and MTV. I find it really hard to relate to her at all. When she came over to visit me in southern california the first thing she asked me was what slang words do we use in california. She also told me how much she loves the show laguna beach and how she wants to be just like them. When I tried to tell her that show was a fake show and most people do not live like that here, she did not believe me. She is the type of person I really do not understand. I am really worried that a lot of young people are turning out to be really materialistic and fake. the whole time she was out here I had to do whatever she wanted to. I swear I am sick of tired of shopping, going to Laguna Beach, Looking at magazines of people who I think are dumb, and hearing gossip because of spending a week with her. I got it enough at school because of the fake blonde bimbos who cant think for themselves who I have to put up with five days a week, but with my cousin it was non-stop. I really want to know who in their right mind consumes their lives with pop culture and doesnt see that it is making you stuck up and airheaded?

Is there anyone good in pop culture that people can look up to? All I know is that Rap and Hip hop talks about whores and bling bling and sex. Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Brittany Spears get out of almost everything they do wrong with a slap on the wrist when normal human beings actually get real jail time. Famous people go on drunken raciest rants. Almost all famous women are melting away right infront of everyones eyes. Magazines are telling girls they need to buy their products and throw up to be beautiful. Is there no end to this madness?

When will people find out that pop culture is ruining a lot of young people......

I believe that pop culture may be ruining youth but you have to realise that hopefully this is just a faze that your peers are going through. I went through it when I was younger. Youth needs to be looking up to the older actors and stars because they have made mistakes and learned from them and are doing well now. it is very hard for me to relate because I am not in your generation but I believe that this is just a faze and although it does suck hopefully people your age will grow out of it by time they are 18. What they should be doing is finding better things to do with their time. It is very easy to get obsessed with someone and most things that people read in those magazines are fake articles that were twisted for the purpose of getting attention. Give it time they should grow out of it.
