I remember in the late 90's when the internet popularity was really starting to take off and people were discovering that you could talk to someone across the world in a different time zone. And with the upgrading of the penpal to an electronic version people saught to find other things online besides friendship, like love or sex. Online dating websites were popping up everywhere and people were flocking to this new trend but it was considered somewhat taboo to meet a stranger online and try to forge a romantic relationship with them. But that was then, and now a days you are bombarded with all types of dating commercials for online dating websites like E-Harmony, Match.com, Lavalife or Chemistry.com. These websites are saturated with people looking for the same thing, a connection. All types of people have joined these websites and has made the luster of meeting someone genuine online a scary thought. When you tell people you have met your significant other online eyebrows do not raise but you are congratualed on how luckyyou are to have found someone. My question with the flood gates being busted open is it still possible to pick that needle in the hay stack and find the person you were meant to be with , forever?

I really don't know. I don't believe in forever though which is sad to say because my mom and dad were married for 19 years and she died. He is talking to this b*h from canada online and I hate her guts. Not because she isn't my mom but because she is rude to me and has changed my dad for the worse.

I think it is possiable for some people, but I would not take that chance. lol. It is scary enough meeting regular people. You don't know if they have killed people, or are crazy, or something along those lines. If my boyfriend and I don't work out after the 3 years we have been together I think I will stay single and focus on myself. lol. It is a scary world out there even offline.

I think it's possible- if you can meet "the one" in a supermarket, parking lot, post office, etc. I'm sure you could meet them online as well. I don't think it's likely for many of the relationships to work because they haven't found "the one". Many people that use these services are so ready to find companionship that they'll take whatever they can get. That's great for a little bit, but after a while someone will want out.
