Bleeding Avarice

By: Me

(stream of consciouseness/poem thingy written during STAR testing, inspired by an excerpt from Thoreau's Walden--similar to "The Secret of Things")

Mine away the richest vein

The human brain--

And yours to keep

Dreams of Avarice, indeed

Beyond conception

And beneath the Heavens

You chisel into life

Let your spirit be blithe

And free

Mine away

O gilded child

The Age is bleak and dim

But live today

And lift away

The weary, clouded night

Take up your sickle

And see

Drink deeply from the stars, O child

And never fall asleep.

---something similar to this:

The human mind

is the deepest vein

in the quest to strike it rich

My heart is the chisel

and yours is the hammer

And hereabouts lies the secret of things

Together, let us strive for

The crowns of kings and queens

Here is where we shall set to mine

Here is where we begin.
