All of us have basic questions of life that demand answers. Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going?
Like the other elements of wellness, spiritual health will influence other parts of our well being. All of these elements of wellness greatly influence how we feel about ourselves. In his book, Pathways to Wellness, Sherman R. Dickman supports this point:
Wellness refers to a feeling, a conscious perception, and awareness by the whole person that his or her components and processes are not only under control but working together harmoniously as a unit
Dickman emphasizes the fact that wellness involves both mind and body. We must realize that these elements are not only under control, but that they all need to be working together to achieve a wellness level that will allow us to be as healthy as possible.
This brings me to what spiritual health is.
To answer these questions we gravitate toward some unifying force; a god-like entity for some, natural or scientific laws for others. I will not proclaim, although I am partial to Christianity, that one particular belief or faith is the correct one. However, we need to understand that having spiritual health basically means that you believe in something, or you believe in nothing. You can believe what you want to believe, but you claim that faith or belief as your own. This is what guides our conscience and makes us who we are. Our beliefs may change over time but it is still essential to our spiritual health and overall wellness to have beliefs.
There 315 American religions to choose from or to not choose at all.

Government's role in health and wellness

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Religion is a big part of my life and most of it has played a part in who I am today. I agree that spiritual health and overall wellness is essential in one's life. It probablly helps me sleep better at night! Because if you do not know what you are doing here, then what is the point of living?

Not to be rude or dumb or anything but I would like to know more about your belief system. What is your point in living and what are you doing in the big Here?
Spirituality is unifying.

"To answer these questions we gravitate toward some unifying force; a god-like entity for some, natural or scientific laws for others."
I wish we would gravitate to ourselves for once....and look within OURSELVES for the answer rather than seeking it from an outside source......i think there would be a lot more peace and unification of the humankind if we did this. our gravitation towards one side or another is what splits us apart often creating something far from peace and TRUE spiritual health.
This is a very interesting answer and good point. But if we look for this unifying force and find within our selves peace and hope then it does not really matter were it came from.
What you say I actually think falls under the natural category of what was said above. Are you suggesting that we abandon our outside ways and go along with your inside way...that is good for your spirtual self and over all well being.
Excellent response thank you.
How has this internal view affected (effected?) your over well being? Do you think you are a positive person for it?

I can critique and give credit where it is due. You have raised some great points in wellness. I like to think that once you reach your own personal peak, you maintain and try to pull from others who have achieved a more complete plan for their life, which is why the book you brought up is a great reference point.
I am what they call a radical Christian and churches discard me the same way close minded people do. I have defined who I am without anyone's input...and I believe the Bible but have studied into it a lot farther than many care to go. People read it like a book, trying to find something wrong with it-and with everything, if you are seeking you will find. When you set out against something and searching for more flaws, you will always find them...therefore atheism...but you know what...none of that matters to me.
How others treat eachother is how I look at others...and I don't know how I got on this tangent...LOL...chocolate? Ummm...but I think we will search our whole lives for the answer to those three questions. I also believe that once you answer those questions, it shifts and you find yourself starting the search for the answers all over again...
