Okay I heard something interesting in an article I read recently that colleges often look down upon students taking a year of to work and make up the cash if they plan on entering as a freshman or coming back after a year off that type of thing. Well here is my biggest problem with it why should it be harder to get into a university or college especially one with prestige if you took a year off too make money. If interviews are required they tend to ask well what did you do with your year off and the worst answer is supposed to be I worked because they want to hear that you have been studying and haven’t lost all of your knowledge and I can kind of understand that. However, it should not limit you getting into the college at all over people that haven’t taken a year off I think they should actually like people that have taken the year off more because they for one obviously did it so they could afford your school and second it might mean that they end up paying the college more because they have to take refresher courses so why should colleges be unhappy about kids taking a year off at all. I believe they should be considered as any other student instead of having to fight harder to get in than other applicants.
However, I will not personally recommend that anyone take a year off because a huge percentage never return and it becomes a dream deferred something they just keep putting off like I will go back next year only it never happens. Although that could just be another reason that admissions officers ought to take it easier on applicants that took a year off because if they have the guts to defy the odds and return then why reject them so that they can become the stereotype of students that never return after taking a year off. What do you think about this?

Shouldn't knowledge of the real world count for anything? Colleges can be so...stupid sometimes.
Usually when people take a "year off before college" the big problem is...they never end up going to college. I never expected for colleges to look down on the people who do eventually make it to college. Perseverence is supposed to be an admirable trait.
