Is anyone tired of your parents always saying to you have it easy
wait till you have to grow up and do everything for yourself...
IM SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING THEM SAY THAT!!!
they have no idea how my life is or what i go throught when im not at home.
They think that kids or just sweet and you can be friends with anyone and everybody
and the weekends your just suppose to be a home relaxing.
They just dont get it AT ALL
and they claim i was your age once, okay yes you were a teenager once
but you didnt have my life you didnt go to my school with the kids i go with
or they never had the same situations that we do.
times have changed and they will continue to change everyday
im seventeen and about to graduate
and it seems like my parents are trying to be stricter and stricter
and i just dont get it
im growing up and becoming more independent every single day
but they just dont seem to realize it
i know they want to see us little forever
but thats no possible.
Were growing up and getting involved with a lot of things
and its just sad when you have to lie to your parents about the littliest things
they just wont understand
i know im not the only one who is going through this anyone have any advice
on how to approach this situation?
Yes - stop assuming they don't know. I'm 18 and I can already say that yeah, you have it easy. You don't have to pay rent, do you? You don't have to worry about where your next meal comes from or how to pay your medical bills.
Try actually approaching adults as equals. Adults are not at all different from "kids". They don't work in some mysterious way, their brains aren't any harder to figure out. Your parents are getting stricter because they want you to be safe, they're feeling anxious about you being about to move out and so forth, they're worried about all the issues that are affecting teens your age. Instead of getting all pissed off about it, TALK to them and try to understand them BEFORE you try to change them.
All adults are trying to do is help and you will realise this later in life. I thought the same thing when I was your age. I didn't realise how fortunate I should have been until my mom passed away. Now I wish she was here to nag me. I know it is hard but they understand. You don't have to pay bills yet like kiota said. So you do have it pretty easy right now. Life is what you make it and it can get much worse.
