Ignorance 1) is a lack of knowledge. Ignorance is also a "state of being ignorant" or unaware/uninformed.
Ignorance 2) is the choice to not act or behave in accordance with regard to certain information in order to suit ones own needs/beliefs.

Those are the 2 definitions that wikipedia gives for “ignorance.”
Now tell me this, how many times on this site alone have you seen the word ignorance be used-and it NOT be in either of those ways?
Very, VERY few times have I actually seen it used correctly. The 2nd definition is what I use against people most of the time-and almost always for the exact same reason. People on this site, when they have absolutly no defence, will attack mine and my boyfriends screen names. Simply because they have “redneck” in each of them. My response to that is always for them to go read his article on what a redneck truly is because they name call or act stupid about our names. More times than not, people will say “well now I won’t read it because…blah blah blah.” They won’t read it because they don’t want to be proven wrong. They CHOOSE to be un-informed. THAT is ignorance #2.
Ignorance #1 is everyone. Everyone is ignorant about something. Ignorance #1 is not knowing something, the people that pick at our screen names are ignorant as to what a redneck is, however, they become ignorant #2 as soon as they CHOOSE to not know.
Really people, before you use the word “ignorant” know what it means.
