HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE BEAUTY? TO SO MANY PEOPLE TODAY BEAUTY IS BEING SKINNY AND HAVING BIG BOOBS OR A BIG BUTT. HOW DO YOU MEASURE BEAUTY? 200 YEARS AGO BEAUTY WAS MEASURED BY HOW FAIR AND PALE YOU WERE. EVERYONE SAYS THEY WOULD RATHER BE JUDGED AS THEMSELVES AND BY THEIR CHARACTER NOT THEIR PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES, YET WE ALL LOVE SONGS ABOUT "DANCING" HUMPING BUMPING AND SHAKING EVERYTHING FOR THE PLEASURE AND APPROVAL OF SOMONE ELSE. WE WATCH THESE VIDEOS AND SOME OF US ATTEMPT TO EMULATE THE VERY THINGS WE CLAIM SHOULD NOT BE MOST IMPORTANT. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?

Why do you have a tainted definition of beauty in society? Because we have underwent so many revolutions as a society. The creation of rock and roll is a perfect example of how music has constructed the teenager. Rock and roll was a very sensuous music, a very sexual music that encouraged teens to follow sexual actions, and that's how you finally got people shaking their behinds in dancing clubs, and that's when music started to define what "beauty" is. Even though rock and roll has kind of dwindle away, now you have the hip-hop culture that downgrades women and beauty and also makes an effort to construct the teenager or the young person. So ever since teenagers have become a rebel culture, the definition of "beauty" per se has been tainted.
The definition of beauty varies from person to person. To me, beauty is inspiring. It is honesty, self-respect, dignity, pride, confidence.
What is shown in some of today's music videos is demoralizing and far from beauty.
i agree that it is demoralizing. do u think that today's perception of beauty strictly benefits the males? it is hard to find a good guy because in the hip hop age everything is guns raps and gangster. it is actually quite pathetic to me.
i agree that today's perception of beauty is demoralizing to women and most guys play into it. there are still a few guys who believe that true beauty comes from somewhere other than your breasts and bottoms, but i stress a few!

Beauty varies from culture to culture and person to person. It changes with the times, as certain things become more elusive. In ancient times and all the way up to about a century ago, it was considered beautiful to be overweight, because most people couldn't actually afford to be overweight. Now that cheap fattening food is everywhere and anyone who wants to can be overweight, it is considered beautiful to be thin, because so few people can afford to eat healthy low-fat food and dedicate the time to preparing it.
