The Prom Checklist for most High School Senior may read like this
1) Find the hottest Prom date
2) Find the best dress and make sure that nobody gets a dress like it... identical dresses are so tacky
3) Schedule my hair appointment, nail
4) Tan for the next two months so I will look beautiful
5) Find the perfect activity to do afterwards
That list sounds extensive and actually quite drawn out. So what is the importance of prom? We didn't have dances before the 1940's and I'm pretty sure that prom isn't the pivotal point in anyone's life. (If it is I'm very sorry I said this.) When you think of high school though that is what most people think of Prom. Is it that important that we have to get all dressed up and go celebrate who knows what.
When I announced that I was not going to Prom I was told that I would regret not going, and it would effect the out come of my life. Wow! I'm not sure on this one, but I'll tell you in twenty years if not going to Prom really effected my life. I have an idea someone should conduct a survey and ask this question: Did you attend you prom, and if you did was it the pivotal point in your life? I'm not sure if it is because of our lack of experience, but as girls we tend to throw temper tantrums if Prom is not exactly as we planned it. We throw a fit if it rains, we don’t like the location, or we have the same dress as someone else, again that is like so completely tacky. I doesn’t matter I’ll tell you what in twenty years from know when you look back on life if Prom was the biggest part of your life, then you haven’t lived enough.
