Insurance sucks

With rising healthcare costs, increasing homeowners insurance premiums, and rising car insurance rates there must be somebody we can blame. I've got it, how about the insurance companies. As someone who has had to pay out over $10,000 in car insurance premiums, and received absolutely nothing for it, I cant help but think "thats kinda messed up". I did a little research and found some information about insurance companies.

The following numbers are the profits of these insurance companies for 2006 in billions of dollars(thats Billion with a B)

Progressive: 1.65; Allstate: 5 ; MetLife: 6.3 ; Aetna: 1.7 ; Cigna: 1.2 ; United Health: 4.16

So Im wondering, why does the government allow private companies to profit immensely off of people trying to protect themselves and their assets? These six companies have combined annual profits of over $20,000,000,000 yet insurance rates are still ridiculous, and a whole lot of people are uninsured. The U.S. government needs to address this problem by socializing healthcare and other forms of insurance, just like every other industrialized country in the world(hell, Cuba has a better healthcare system than us). Even worse is the fact that insurance companies kick and sream and beg for government subsidies anytime a disaster happens. So not only are insurance companies taking all our money, they're not even providing the services they promised they would, the government is. So why not skip the middleman, and let the government handle the insurance racket.

I would also like to note that if I see one more God Damn Geico commercial, I'm gonna shoot myself(how much money do they blow on advertising).

Yeah, you're right. Insurance is way overpriced, and companies are making insane profits. Something that is made necessary to have a car (insurance) shouldn't be left up to big corps. to drive prices up and over-charge people. (This sounds familiar...hmmm...oh yeah--HMOs and health care!) Anyway, the gov. should be responsible for this, and for keeping prices down. They shouldn't just make it mandatory and then leave it up to insurance moguls to charge us so incredibly much. Oh, and national healthcare would be nice :)

I also think that the gov. should ban terrible reptilian advertising.
(I'm going to kill that Aussie Geico gecko, I swear....:)
