"All That Matters"
By:Me
People are ignorant and blind
They hide between, behind
The thinnest lines are spread
Too thin
And people are still suckered in
Sheep
Little sheep clothed in D&G
D for Dulce, G for Gabbana
Shallow sheep grazing constantly
In the Abercrombie shops
Or Hollister and Hilfiger
I really couldn't care much less
Might as well be Adolf Hitler
Or even Rudolph Hess
People care too much
About the saddest things
The smallest things
It's all really quite pointless in the end
You can't take your trinkets with you
If it's not the latest fad
Move on to other things
More
More
More
Nothing is ever good enough
Someday it will all be ripped away
And you'll have nothing left
I write because I care about
The Truth--what really matters
--Your D&G is worthless
Who cares if it cost you eighty or ninety dollars ?
The greatest things in life are priceless
And those are what really matter
I am happy with what I have
Blessed, even
Others are not as fortunate as I
Even to live another day is a Gift
And that is the only one that
Truly, truly matters
Whatever you have is a blessing
A privilege you don't deserve
Don't ever take it for granted
Not even one second in any day
And stay away from those shallow fads
Because all that matters is
Who you are, what you believe
How you act, and where you go in life
Don't forget about how you treat the rest of us
So what if you can't have the latest thing
Or even the 'greatest' thing
It's just a 'thing' !
In the grand scheme of life
All that matters is what is in your heart
Humility and goodwill count for so much more
Than what you bought at "Brand A" store
Smiling is a priceless art
Of no cost to you at all
But a moment in time to share and love
To laugh and truly care
So love today and
Smile away
Because that is all that matters.

well said... your definately right.. in a blog i just wrote i basically went along the same thing.. at the end of the day all that material stuff doesnt really matter. its the people that are close to you that you cherish.
A poem is a great way of expressing your thoughts about consumerism instead of writing it straight out in sentences. Sure people boost the economy by buying what's in style, yet they miss out on their individualism.
