Of all the states in America my parents chose Kentucky. They both wanted seasons, low cost of living, and good jobs. Yes all of that is easy to find here but what about fun? Did they ever think about how boring life will be? I am not quite sure what to make of Kentucky.
Like any state it has it's pros and cons. Also, to set the record straight not all of us are ignorant rednecks who walk around bare footed. I am sure you can find that some where in the state but not so much where I live.
I find myself very bored here, but I am not quite sure whether it is really me or the state. When I go out of state I feel releaved, this could be because I am getting away from things that stress me out. But still I am not sure.
Honestly moving out of the state is out of the question. I really do not want to leave my dad and yes that sounds childish but I will admit that. If my mom was still alive then I might consider moving. I guess since I lost her I feel as though I can easily lose my dad as well. Plus the cost of living here is almost unbeatable and it is hard to find a place with close to the same cost of living.
I have experienced alot here and in a way I blame it on moving here. I guess I am looking to escape my experiences and start over fresh. Every street has a image to remind me of the people who I used to call my friends. Every childhood memory I created here. Everything I came to love and hate originated here. Yet I am not proud to live here.
You have only a few "fun" things you can do. Go to the movies...and oh boy I just can not wait to see another movie. Go to the mall with all the millions of people breathing down your neck and hurrying you along. Listen to music, get on the computer, and go to the lake. I guess the Florida blood of the ocean runs deep within my veins.
I wonder if it could be the fact that my mom always made things fun. Since we did not have alot of money growing up, I never experienced some of the things other kids in my community did. I remember going to the movies about 3-4 times my entire life with my parents when I was younger. I have never been on a vacation in my entire life. We have always had to go to Ohio or Michigan or Florida to see my family. Because someone either died or they were sick. I only remember 2 times my entire life that we actually went out to eat.
Everyone would tell me go outside you can find something to do. Like what? Do you want me to dig around in the dirt and eat some worms? We live on 1.6 acres with nosy neighbors, there is no point in sweating to death without a reasonable cause.
So I find myself bored. I wonder if it is the fact that I do not fit in here. I have often wondered if I could fit in anywhere. I am so different and people won't understand that. They try and force me to go to these lame parties that I get drunk at because it is easier dealing with ignorant drunk people when you are drunk because you understand what they are going through. Drunk people irritate me, if I am drunk I can find a way to relate to these ignorant people. And No I am not saying all drunk people are ignorant but I can be an ignorant drunk sometimes as well. Although I'm not to fond of alcohol.
I wonder if I am just loathing in my own self pity for being blessed with this gift of Kentucky. (Great gift can I return it?) Or if I am truly just unhappy with myself and how boring my life is not the state itself.
Anyone else feel this way about the state they live in?

Yeah, sometimes I feel that way about Pennsylvania. I mean, I have to drive 40mins plus just to get to a real store. The only things available in my town are car repair shops, grocery stores, and a few dollar stores. That's about it.
I don't hate it where I live, though. Even though it'd be nice to be closer to more entertainment, I like to have the privacy of not having quite so many people in one town. I'd take the country over the city any day.

Mind Control is Easier Than You Think
I think a lot of being content where you are has to do with attitude and mindset. I'm from Wisconsin, and it's a state that is widely made fun of for its "nothingness," or "nothing but farms," or "cheeseheads" or just plain "no fun."
However, I love Wisconsin and I'll defend it to the ends of this earth. It has absolutely breathtaking country and rolling hills, as well as awesome riverbluffs. I think there are positive things about every state, city, town, or countryside. It's just a matter of finding your place and being proud of it.
Don't listen to people who say your state is worthless. Be proud of where you live. If you are, it will be much easier to stick around!
It took me all of a day to find Alterra Coffee right by the lake in Milwaukee. :-) I found my place and I haven't even moved there yet.
I'm pretty sure I'll be making great friends with Pabst Theatre as well. ;-)

Awesome. Enjoy!
No.
The fact that I live in southeast Houston helps.
I feel that way in my home town in Northern California, which is why I chose to move to San Diego rather than stay home for junior college. I am so thankful my parents allowed me to move just to go to a JC and I have so much fun. I love San Diego, there is always something to do all over the city of 1.2 million people.

Check out my latest blog! :]
I live in Alaska. Sounds really neat, right??? Imagine: no movie theatre, no malls, only 2 grocery stores (necessities only), one pizza place, one small coffee shop with inconsistent hours, and lots and lots of tundra, beach, river, and ocean. What in the world do I DO?!? So, you need a hobby. You need to FIND something you like to do. Kentucky is part of horse country - go horseback riding. Expensive sport, yes, but totally worth it. Maybe you like hiking, or spelunking, or biking, or camping, or all of the above. Are you an inside kind of person? What about painting? Quilting? Mosaic? Woodwork? You just need to find something you like. Maybe get involved with community events, or volunteering, or political activism. You just need a hobby. There is something and nothing to do everywhere you go. I ski, walk, quilt, watch movies, write, read, play my violin, etc. etc. etc. So find something; you'll find your community.

My hometown is quite boring. Not much to do here except get drunk and make babies. I was able to move out of Indiana once, for about 2 years, but the cost of living killed me, so here I am back in hell. I am planning to move out of state again, somewhere warm. I just need to ensure that I will have a good job and security the next time I move so I don't have to move back here.
Dani - I love the new picture! You are very pretty.
Well maybe everyone should come to Texas. There is always somthing to do there. Well I live in Dallas, TX. In Dallas there are so many stores, shopping centers , and grocery stores all around. Every corner you turn , you will find one . Most people say Texas is big and everything about it is. We are supposed to have a big ego ,hairstyles, are supposed to live on farms, ride horses and wear Cowboy Hats all day long. Don't get me wrong, we are proud of our western culture but also have urban culture too. The most part I like about my city is downtown Dallas and White rock Lake. There is always something to do down here. Sorry your state is not that entertaining.
P. S. Nice pic! Now I can see your whole face instead of your eyes! I meant that in a good friendly way. Not the other way.
But I'm really not so much into shopping. There is alot of grocery stores and such here as well. I mainly miss the ocean. But I want seasons as well. If I were to move I would move to Maine or South Carolina.
I have heard Texas is nice I would love to visit there but not sure if I could live there. But I really do not know because I have never been there. Might have to check that one out.
Thanks about the picture. It is older but not really old. I still look the same. I feel as though people might not take me as seriously now, but I am sure I am just assuming this.
