I Can't Believe It Either!!

Earlier, last Wednesday I wrote a blog titled "I Eat and Drink Pepsi" well, for those of you who have read it, I DID IT! I can't believe I haven't had even the slightest drop in 7 days. My family can't believe it either. The yesterday I was having lunch at my uncle's house and he's like (to my cousin) go get some Pepsi for her, and I was like no thanks one more day and I'll have completed a week without Pepsi. He’s like seriously? wow! He was really encouraging. I used to tell my father I’ll quite Pepsi when he gives up alcohol and smoking. O well, hope he gives up though. As for me, I lied to myself when I said I was going to quit. I didn’t really think I was going to do it. I just made some false promise, the ones like “I’ll clean up my room later” and it came true. I did crave it though. I craved Pepsi like mad at dinner. And then I’d just go and get water. My uncle was like, did you replace your Pepsi with something else? (He meant other sodas) I’m like no, just water. I wasn’t even able to give up Pepsi for lent, and at that time I was trying! So if any of you wonder how I just quit in a week (even though it sounds impossible cause I’m addicted) the answer is I have no clue. I didn’t give it up by drinking less and less this time, I gave it up completely and suddenly. I hope I never drink it like I used to. From now on, I’m giving my self the once-a-week limit. : )

Ok so any of you out there who "FINALLY DID IT" and quit something, I'd love to read your stories (and maybe unlike me, you know how you did it).

It is so hard to change habits! Especially when they are delicious ones!

I'm not a quitter! Although, I do have certain bad habits I wish I could quit. Congrats on making it so long without Pepsi! The power of suggestion sure is funny:

Lol man that was just a little tempting, but luckily i'm to tired to go to the fridge : ).

This may sound rediculous but when I quit smoking I had a mantra of sorts for when I was considering picking the habbit back up. Its a twist from a quote from the movie Cars...Mater says "to not too". All I had to remember is I was in control of my body and 'to not too' chose to bring a cigarette to my lips and light it.

I also had to give up soda when I was prego....Once that was over I would alot my self one a week, then only one with dinner, then before I knew it I was up to a case a day again. I guess I am lucky to have such simple vices with such a vast familial history of addictive behavior. I just wanted to say that so you can avoid that mistake.

Lol same experience. If you read "I Eat and Drink Pepsi" i wrote about how i had once quit and then fell again into the habit. So imma start that "to not too" mantra.

yeah serious congrats on that one...drinking pop is harder to quit than people think...I stopped with a friend and his brother over 2 years ago...now I can't drink it or I get a really bad headache from the caffine...even with pop like sprite or 7-up I can't drink it cuz the carbonation burns my throat...but I feel so much better about my life and I'm glad I quit

If I drink soda now, I get a serious headache. Diet soda especially screws me up and burns going down. Maybe if your body gets used to not having it, sodas are just too strong and toxic for your system.

good job. it's very hard to give up something you love to eat/do...or in your case drink. my friend did that one time. she gave up soda for almost 4 months! she was used to drinking it everyday.

I thought I was the only one with the soda problem. For me, my throat is fine but i get bad cramps and headaches. Congrats to all of you as well.
