Can I Check Your Bag?

Tagged:  •

About three weeks ago, I came home on a plane from Missississippi with a group of my friends. Earlier that day, on our way to the airport, my friend asked me if she could use my hand lotion. I told her it was packed and she told me just to bring it in my carry on. I took out my twenty dollar bottle of Bath and Body Works lotion and handed it to her, then I carefully tucked it away. At the airport we took off all our accessories, put our pillows in the bins, and walked through the metal detector. My carry on slowly passed through the metal detector and the alarm started to go off. The guard took out my bag and checked inside. he searched around and pulled out the bottle of hand lotion. He told me he would have to throw it away since it wasn't allowed on the plane. Sadly and reluctantly I said yes. One of my friends looked inside her already checked bag and noticed her hand lotion that the metal detector did not.
Just now, I read about a woman who's bag went through the x-ray machine only to show a human skeleton inside! She had the proper paperwork and was allowed to bring it on the plane. The bones were her dead brother who died eleven years before.
If she can have her dead brother transported, why can't I have my lotion? Why is not ok to take a bottle of lotion on a plane, but your allowed to bring your brother in your bag?

That is interesting. I was not aware that you could not bring lotion on a plane. I will defiantly follow this blog to see who knows why. Sorry that happened..

After the "liquid bomb" terrorist scare back in 2006, the Government outlawed any liquid in carry on items of more than 3 ounces.

Something even more retarded: if you had put your bottle of lotion in a ziploc bag, they would have allowed it.

There's a certain amount of liquids/gels that you can bring. It all has to fit in a quart-sized zip-block.
I went to New York over the summer & couldn't bring any lipgloss because I couldn't get it to fit in that tiny bag.
I know what you mean by it being a waste. My mom had bought a candle and stuck it in her purse & forgot. She went to get on the plane & they had to rummage through her stuff to find the candle & confiscate it.
