We’ve been conditioned by years of parents and role models telling us to drink our milk daily. After all, it is essential to good growth and bone health! Or is it?
Cow’s milk is the perfect liquid… for cows. However, human consumption of milk has been linked to stomach cramps, vomiting, colitis, diarrhea, constipation, gastro-intestinal canker sores, intestinal obstruction, lethargy, mental depression, iron deficiency anemia, abnormal blood clotting… the list goes on and on. Perhaps a very surprising result from milk consumption is actually the net loss of body calcium because of the high protein content in milk.
Cow’s milk has over 50 active hormones as well as measurable quantities of herbicides, pesticides, and antibiotics, most of which create havoc in the human body. One of these hormones in particular is a growth hormone (which makes sense, as cow’s milk is designed to help a calf grow quickly) called IGF-1. This hormone has been shown to be a key factor in the growth of some (if not all) cancers, including breast, prostate, and colon cancers. Other hormones found in cow’s milk are also being linked to diabetes and Crohn’s disease.
Milk sugar lactose intolerance is actually much higher than most people think, as well. About 20 percent of white Americans are intolerant of this lactose. About 95 percent of Asian Americans are as well, about 50 percent of African Americans and Native Americans, and more than 50 percent of Mexican-Americans are intolerant to milk sugar lactose.
The reason people keep drinking this poison is to try to get calcium. However, there are plenty of other foods that contain the calcium people need: salmon, tofu, collard greens, spinach, broccoli, almonds, kale, etc.
Do yourself a favor and stop drinking that stuff. You can remain perfectly healthy (perhaps even more so!) without it. There are plenty of alternative ways to get good nutrients for your body.
Yes, cow’s milk is nature’s perfect beverage, but only for cows. Not for people.

I was in a middle school cafeteria this weekend, and nearly every inch of wall space was covered in Milk Council advertisements. They push milk on kids as "normal" when more than half the world finds it disgusting and unnatural. Minnesota has a huge Somali population, and their kids are continually perplexed by teachers telling them "everyone drinks milk. you have to drink it to be healthy."

I'm from Wisconsin - "America's Dairyland." Ohhh yes, I've had it drilled into my mind time and again that everyone needs to drink milk to be healthy.
I was also very sick when I started grade school, visiting the nurse almost every day not long after daily milk break. It took months before they figured out what was wrong with me. Sheesh.
I know what you mean by posters being all over the place. Schools pushing poison... sick.
Born Hoosier, raised Cheesehead, converted Gopher.
You're lucky they figured it out at all. Not eating dairy is like a sacrilege in Wisconsin!
I was not lactose intolerant, and my diet growing up was probably 30% dairy. After reading this, I'm all freaked out that I'm going to get cancer. I haven't been a huge dairy person since I met my partner, who was vegan until we decided to go all local. Now we eat some cheese now and then, and ice cream for a treat. It's hard to give up the foods I REALLY love, since they don't make me sick.

THANK YOU. I've been trying to get this through to my mother for years. I started feeling sick after drinking milk a couple years ago, and I've never really had good feelings about drinking it on the whole, and one day I read that it's not even good for you. :)
I was talking to a friend the other day about how unnatural it is for HUMANS to drink COW's milk. I think I'll send this to her and give her a laugh.

Welcome. Yeah... I think it'll take a while before some people come to accept the dangers of milk. The "importance of drinking milk" has been drilled into our minds for so long... it's about time that we start reversing that.
People who are lactose intolerant shouldn't take anything with lactose.
A lot of milk is bad for the stomach.
And, in a lot of people, it increases mucus production.
So, I don't drink it when I have a cold or stomach problems and I'm fine.

I never knew this about milk. Growing up, milk was the only thing I was allowed to drink, so to this day I don't drink much except milk. This has been REALLY informative, but I am curious -
I've seen some milk advertised that their cows do not receive hormones, would this milk be safer to drink? Is it the hormones, pesticides, herbicides, etc the cause of the health risks or is it the milk in general?
Much of what is dangerous in milk are the pesticides etc, that are found in the milk. Some cows are also given extra hormones to increase their milk production. So, buying organic milk can help cut out a lot of that nasty stuff.
However, many hormones are naturally found in milk, so there is no way to get around those. Some of the most dangerous hormones, such as the growth hormones, are in any cow's milk because of nature. Baby cows drink the milk and grow very quickly, gaining loads of weight and body mass. This is with help from the growth hormones in the milk. These are the same hormones that are being linked to cancer growth.
No matter what kind of cow's milk you buy, there will be these harmful elements to it.
