"We do not have gays in Iran."

Ahmadinejad, (curent president of Iran), was asked a question about gay executions in Iran, and he went into a rant about the death penalty. Moderator Dean Coatsworth kept on him however, and received this answer:

"In Iran, we don’t have homosexuals like in your country. We don’t have that in our country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon. I do not know who has told you that we have it."

He was then booed by the audience. =D

Of course, what he meant to say was: we kill them.

And here we are in America, with people complaining about the lack of acceptance for gay people, arguing over gay mairrage. I think people forget how wonderful our country really is about acceptance and freedom to be who you want to be. While this is truly sad, and maybe even a little comical, I think this is a great reminder to Americans that while our country does, without doubt, have it's flaws, we live in a wonderful place, a beautiful place where we are free to be who we want to be without fear of being killed by our government or being imprisoned. We are truly blessed: Let us not ever forget that.

will, there is no openly gay republican servicing if office. there is also no gay in pakistan, a military dictatorship that harbor terrorist, is rumor to be protecting bin laden, and use nuclear energy. there is also no gay in the saudi arabia, a country that make up 45 percent of the insurgent that are killing american soldier in iraq, and saudi arabia is a country where 15 of the 19 hijacker came from.

it was also a crime in the state of texas and many southern states, it was finally overturn in lawerence vs. texas. this video would explain it better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSDQQtHKakU

also, iran is run by the mullah, the prez is just a figure head. i don't think that the iranian prez is no more reasponsible for the death of gay in his country just as the current president of the united states no more is responsible for the death of 15 teenager sentenace to death by the state of texas. infact, if i remember correctly, when bush was govornor of texas, he had the highest execution rate, and more people was given the death penalty and carried out under governor bush.

on the other hand, i do love this country. it is great.

on these statements>>>

"there is also no gay in pakistan, a military dictatorship that harbor terrorist, is rumor to be protecting bin laden, and use nuclear energy."

No one has ever made a statement that there are no gays in Pakistan.

Pakistan DOES NOT fund any terrorists organization or individuals. PLEASE UNDERSTAND that people from other countries come there and start doing these idiotic things, we need those people to get out of the country but they are NOT home grown terrorists and our government does not support them.

AND ALSO PAKISTAN DOES NOT PROTECT BIN LADEN>>> WHERE THE HECK DID YOU GET THAT FROM????? and we do have nuclear cells BUT we do not use nuclear energy, that's India that has nuclear reactors that they want to use for energy and US is helping them do that.
Pakistan only has the nuclear power but it is NOT being used in any way...

I must say that I think it highly probable that Pakistan, as well as many other nartions in the region have some sort of Nuclear Arms, especially if India does. (I sreem to recall that those two nations aren't on the best terms.) Of course, no nation would use a Nuclear Weapon, because most governments probably don't want to suddenly have the whole world nocking at their doors with torches and pitchforks on stand-by.

people are aware of the fact that they should not be taken lightly or even thought to be used. As long as the countries of the region deal with their matters with discussion and talks, their should be no need to resort to using any sorts of weapons or arms..
that's my hope and that's what has been happening so far.

I don't think that any government is going to use Nuclear Weapons. If it did, all higher-ups in the government would soon find themselves executed for crimes against humanity.

But we at least know this much: There are gays in Iran.
And they have been imprisoned because of this.
It is not completely proven that this is also the reason that they were hanged, but it is stongly implied.
And i'm pretty sure none of the death penalties that Bush gave out were for being gay.

I'm sure that most people would argue that the lot of homosexuals in the U.S. is better than it is in Iran, but what of it? Is that an excuse not to grant them the rights that they should have? Of course not.

Definitely.
It doesn't matter what choices people make with thier lives, its THEIR choice, and they deserve the same rights and privileges that everyone else has.

People will always strive for what they don't have... Give a little freedom and rights and everyone will want more. This is human nature, so even if we do have alot already from our country, we can always do more for the people.
