At my school, lunches are a mess. With only 400 students, maybe the school board doesn't think it is that important. Or maybe because we aren't government funded, it's easier to buy frozen foods in bulk, but everyone should be given the opportunity for a healthy and delicious food selection.
As of a few months ago, we now have 2 options for lunch, instead of just one. Pizza, chicken nuggets, pizza dippers, chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese and corndogs make up the majority for entrees. There is a so-called "snack bar" where you can purchase chips, poptarts, crackers, cereal and popcorn in case you aren't interested in what the school is serving for lunch. And there are about 5 prepared salads for those 5 lucky students to buy if that's the only option they like.
Doesn't this go against everything we're being taught? When teachers complain we're being stubborn or lazy and unwilling to work, maybe they should look to our lunches for a reason. High school students are busy, most don't usually think about bringing their own lunch when the school provides one for them. But without healthy options readily available, how exactly can nutrition be promoted? Is it an insult to our lunchroom employees if we strat to ask for a more nutritional lunch program? Does anyone else experience the same type of issue at your school?
School lunches....Ironic aren't they?

I go to a public school with close to 2000 students, and out lunches are at least equally inedible.
