I never used to be interested in current events because I always thought that they were extremely depressing, but I always ended up reading a newspaper or looking up certain things online. Maybe it's because like everyone else I wonder, what is going to happen next?
An issue that always intrigued me was nuclear weapons. Ever since the Cold War I thought whether it was really possible to eliminate all of a countires nuclear weapons. I am sure it has been speculated, and all countries agree on disarmament but do they really go through? Is one country hiding away some of their nuclear weapons because they are afraid if another country attacks they will have nothing to retaliate with.
I think it was in 8th or 10th grade when I first heard that North Korea was collecting/buildin/storing nuclear weapons. We all know it wouldn't be the brightest idea for them to actually use them, but it's still a dangerous prospect. And now, I've just read that they're going to end their nuclear operations. In the article it said that Kim Gye Gwan expressed his countries eagerness to comply, but why did it take so long? Maybe it's just me and I am beign pessimistic, but there's always that shread of doubt in my mind. I think that it is great that they no longer what to be an enemy country, they're taking that step. The article said that their exact plans are still in the works, and I will definitely look for any more upcoming articles. ^_^
North Korea to Halt Nuclear Operations

i never really understood nuclear powers either. I would tell every country "hey, you know what, America is going to destroy all her nuclear weapons and shut down all her reactors cept for one to do some research on. We are also going to keep one bomb. You can build whatever you want we don't care but no this...it will only take that one bomb we got to end the world, we don't even need a second."

i believe that nuclear weapons are unecessary today and its about time that n. korea stopped their nuclear operations.
their building nuclear weapons just created fear to other countries including the U.S.
maybe the fear of building nuclear weapons was what could've triggered another war and that's why they stopped.
do you know why they decided to stop their nuclear operations??????
