The TV went out because of the hail storm so my son decided to watch Aladdin. I am not sure why it occurred to me that this was a representation of the United States government, but it did. I decided to bring this to you as either a progressive blog on people needing to learn to think outside the box (and a how to sort of thing) or about the governmental crisis we seem to be in and how to try to fix it. Either way, I am sure this will fall short of the glory I intend it to be.
My first thought trying to make sense of this random idea was that the King would represent the president. This is probably because the entire time I have been aware of anything all the presidents seem to have been complete loons at the mercy of psycho power freaks. Jafar and his evil staff would the congress.
Later I decided that the Princess Jasmine would be America…The prize to be one. I also thought that Jafar could be the power hungry ones trying to ruin America. Of course the needy children interrupted my crazy train.
When I returned to my thoughts I brought it up to my hubby as Aladdin representing what the prospecting for the presidency is. Scraggly regular people phoning up and making themselves be way more then they are. If only the runners could be as honest as what Aladdin had to be to become Sultan. The gene in this train would be the advisors and such that direct the runners and write the puppet speeches.
This ride was a long illogical one and now I am sure I have lost it completely. What do you think…am I nuts or what. Do you think there would be a better correlation between Aladdin and the US governmental crisis?

Now to make it progress, I guess.
We need to not zone out and leave our brains unengaged for so long. We can strengthen our cognition skills by considering the things we do, say and watch. You never know when amazing or ridiculous thoughts can happen and to lose the chance would be like robbing the twinkle from some ones eyes. Practice by trying to compare entertainment with life. Somehow maybe this can bring forth progress.
OR
We need to quit depending on some magical gene to save our rears from the evil dictatorship we have some how gotten our selves under. Vote and write your congress person and demand honesty and change.
Side Note: When on line the other day I noticed on the MSN home page there were two articles listed in sequence. One was about gas prices and that problem and the other (right below it) was about America’s obesity problem. I wonder if these have anything to do with each other????

Unfortunately, I haven't seen Aladdin in many, many years so I'm not sure if your idea matches up to the film, but I know that next time I do watch it, that's what I'll be thinking of : ). I have a tendency to project politics onto everything, which, I'm sure, is a result of too many courses in sociology and too much time on the internet. I watched Mary Poppins a couple of years ago and could only see it in terms of anti-feminist propaganda.
Mary Poppins? Anti-feminist propaganda?!!! Ah yes, good find but she suited her role and status fine...an ecouragment to all feminist to break out and run while they can!
