What's wrong with America today (Part I)

It's been done before; the rant of how America is corrupt today. Frankly, I don't care if it has, because I think it needs to be said again and again since much hasn't changed; not enough anyway. I never realized how clueless I was to the corruption of this country until just today actually. Of course I had thought about it before, but I never really thought about who are these people that have major positions in the white house.
The Iran Contra scandal is something I never knew about since it happened when I was born, in 1990. There was a war between Iran and Iraq, and technically the U.S. was Iraq's allie, but we purposefully provided Iran with weapons to keep the war going. Why would we do that? Well, our economy would drop if Iraq and Iran decided to change currency and trade oil with Europe in Euros, so I guess the government thought "Hey, why not keep a feud between them so that they're too busy fighting themselves to do anything". To make things worse, the U.S. went to Colombia and got an enormous amount of Cocaine, made it into really good expensive crack, and sold it to people in one of the states in the West, to increase the flow of drug dealing and get money out of it. With that money they bought weapons to give to Iran. Now tell me, why is it that an enormous amount of people don't know that? Tell me why this kind of thing would've never really been taught to me unless I asked about it. And worst of all, tell me why the officials involved in this scandal were pardoned by George Bush and are now high officials in the white house.
These kind of things make me want to cry and move to Europe. How can we, the people, let ourselves be blinded from these important facts that are right in front of our noses? I know I did, and now all I can do is wish that we can all come together to fix things. But, I get scared because it's so hard to do that. Hopefully I can be one of the many that want to get things rolling, and I'm calling forth for anyone else who is praying for change to do the same.
