I am very interested in Sociology and although I have not taken a class about it I have been trying to think of a list of factors that affect groups of people. When you think about what really affects groups of people in an empirical way you can really learn something about what you respond to also. Here is the list I have come up with so far.
- Society
- Culture (diff. cultures between countries and diff. between areas for example in the
US the North vs. the South.) - Environment
- Geography
- Economic (Prices, Jobs, Good Economy = Happy people Bad Economy = unhappy people.)
- Weather
- Natural Disasters/ Political (9-11 created Unity, Racism, Fear, Easier group to control)
- Special Individuals (Martin Luther King Jr.)
- Religion
- Bias
- Racism
- Trends
- Fashions
- T.V.
- News
- Morals
- Family vs. Single
- Seasons (Winter, Summer)
- Movies
- Wealth/ Area Wealth
- History
- Technology
- Fear (of unknown Terrorism…)
- Business Trends (Products drive trends, Adkins Diet.)
- Wars
- Disease
- Trust in Government (Scandals lose trust)
- Music
- Books
- Education
- Role Models
- Countries Political Relationships
- Government Messages
- Human Nature
- Respect of Elders (Cultural)
- Men vs. Women (Cultural)
- Mix of Cultures (The amount of different cultures in a group.)
Please add onto this list by posting your ideas and if you do post please list your ideas starting from the last number posted. For example if I were the first one to post I would start at 38.

38. Personality types
How about outside forces we cannot see: jinn or evil/good spirits?
I guess you could include those but it is imposible to measure those and understand them so it would not do much good if you were to use this list to attempt to understand human behavior in groups.
How about hormones, chemical reactions and changing wave patterns in our brain, emotions and desires?
I would say that those are very relavant although the first three, hormones, chemical reactions, and changing wave patterns in the brain would affect the individual but would be very hard to understand how it would affect a group. Emotions and Desires would deffinetely work though.
39. Emotions
40. Desires
Outside forces could include radiation that changes the wave patterns of our brain. Hey, you forgot nutrition. or famine.
But really, all of this could be condensed into environment.
Yes it could but it is better to be spacific I think.
41. Nutrition
42. Famine
Hhahhaha !
In that case, I could probably keep on adding to this list and annoying you.
Really its not annoying me at all. The reason I posted this blog is for people to add on to my list because I might end up trying to use all these factors in the future and the more the better.
Pain or Oppression.
42. Pain
43. Opression
Keep going for as much as you can think of its fine by me.
Space. Time. Resources.
Propoganda.
Animals. Pollution. Background. Experience!
History. Science.
I think that's enough.
Ha Ha that is a lot. Thank you very much.
44. Space
45. Time
46. Resources
47. Propoganda
48. Animals
49. Pollution
50. Background
51. Experience
52. Science
many of the things on the list could be linked to religion:
bias, racism, morals, etc!
