Free Will or Pre Determination?

Some people say you can be one or the other, but I personally believe in both.

God is all knowing. He knows all of the decisions I will make. I don’t necessarily think He has my whole life planned out with every little choice, but he has planned generally what I will do, and the major decisions that I will make.

But I have decisions and choices to make myself.

For example right now I can stand up or I can remain sitting. I have that decision to make for myself, but God already knows what I will do.

It amounts to predetermination if your choice is already known. It is saying that you can choose, but there is only one choice that you can make.

Does knowledge equal causation? I personally have been struggling with this, but I think that nothing will surprise God in the way that it would you or me. He ultimately has the power. He can make things work out for his good. How much power does that mean for him?

Or, in my opinion, He makes things work out for our good.

God's thoughts are not our thoughts and we just have to trust that His mind is so much more vast than ours. I like the way you described free will and predestination. This is a topic that still has theologans wondering and pondering, but we can be confident in knowing that God knows best! =)
