Homework is fucking a waste of time. I mean, seriously. And WHY do teachers constantly pile it on top of you and practically suffocate you with it? What's is purpose? To make you smarter? Students are at school for six hours a day five days a week! Isn't that enough? People constantly tell us to, "Live for the moment" and how the fuck are we supposed to do that when we can't even get a moment for ourselves?
And what's this bullshit about having to memorize so many things?! In real-life, you can fucking look that shit up! Sure, it'll be pretty nifty to have all that information to be in your head... but not memorizing all 10278390827 vocab words in english class in just two weeks doesn't mean that you don't have the mental capability of being an intellegent individual.
I think all homework is mostly doing is supporting teenage suicide. WTF! And if I remember right, life isn't about selling your soul to your math teacher or being chained to a history book, but being able to enjoy the things you love in life like having GOOD ASS laughs with your friends and family or breathing the fresh air (if there is any left anywhere) outside at night. Because life can end at any moment. How would you feel if a meteor crashed on you (god forbid) while you were at home reading on how cellular respiration differs from photosynthesis...? If that end just HAS to come, and I know it most certainly will, I'd want to die, as wierd as it may seem, in the happiest moment of my life. I don't know about you, but that happy moment is NOWHERE related to homework.

You do not have to do homework. No one has to do homework. Anyone can choose to fail a class, it is his/her right. However, if one wishes to follow the standard path of working to "'success," one should do homework. Education is a standard in society. Of course, one may opt to live for the moment and ignore homework, but the chances of obtaining "success" become limited (not doing homework will adversely affect your grades).

HOmework has never been shown to improve learning, make students more disciplined, or all the other hundreds of things that people say it does.
HOmework enters very different homes, rich kids have tutors, poor kids have to work, it further divides our already divided society and gives a break to kids who come from wealthy families.
Kids are in school for 6-9 hours a day, that is a full work day, enough!
Why resign ourselves to a practice that has no value?

I agree. I think school in itself is a crock of shit unless you are loving what you are doing. School systems continue to attempt to standardize people and when they can't, they put you on drugs or say that you are ADD/ ADHD when in fact not many people are. We are just like animals in many ways; we need to be active. Like you said, if we REALLY want to know any of this crap, we can look it up.
Everything that I have actually LEARNED and not MOMENTARILY MEMORIZED I have learned on my own and at my own free will.

Homework keeps you busy. Many students are already too screwed even with the current amount of homework. Think of how it would be when you have none.
hey, if homework keeps my mind from turning to mush, i'm all for it. if you don't want to do it, that's your decision.. but keep in mind that you'd probably never get a job where you even need to look things up if you don't put in the grunt work sometime.
Homework is a neccessary evil, unfortunately. All the legislature in the world won't be able to abolish it.
I agree with you, I mean I think there should be a certain load of homework for simple learning, but today teachers ARE doing alot of homework assigning, leading to more and more students not be able to keep up if your not a prodigy, so I know what you mean!

There are not homework assighnment that are so easily explained.
What you get in highschool is a privilage. They hold your hand and every thing.
Well what i did learn from all the homework assignments is how to make my own when i got to college. Afraid I would fail unless i taught myself. And in the real world. In jobs where you actually have to think. You have to have some things to memory like the back of your hand or you will be lost.
I used to think the same thing in highschool. Now i spend two hours per class extra studying just to keep a high GPA so that I can recieve and keep Funding for my education.
Nobody enjoys doing homework (or at least that's what I think), but it does help us aknowledge better some things.

Clam down my young jedi. homework has its reason. It can help your grades. It helps reinforce what you are taught. Someitmes it can help you learn new things. Stop bitching and do it, or drop out and flip my burgers and mow my yard for the rest of your life. The choice is yours.
