So many people are going to respond to this blog by saying "well you see a lot of abuse because you use public transit" or you work with "those sorts of people..." Well those responses suck, because poor people don't necessarly abuse, and neither do mothers who have experienced abuse themselves. The more I work with women in both the domestic violence shelter and the homeless shelter that I work at, the more I learn that pigeonholing people just doesn't work. But why, oh why do I see abuse so often on the buses around here? It is getting really frustrating because it isn't to the point that I feel it is my business to say something to moms, but the next time I see a mom shoving her three-yr old because he's trying to sleep leaning up against her, I think I might freak out.
We as a nation wonder what the hell is going on...why so much violence, so many school and college shootings, so much angry music, rape, drug addictions, abuse, pets being abused and neglected and so forth...well I can tell you what is going on..people are horrible to their kids. I see it everywhere; violence being taught to the littlest of the little. I get really tired of public transit for this very reason, yet I feel getting a car and forgetting that there are women out there who do these things to their kids doesn't solve anything. How is Portland the "best city to have a baby?" when I daily see moms pushing kids around, threatening them, pinching them and so forth. I dunno...this is really just a rant...I just don't understand why some people have babies...don't have babies folks...unless you have endless unfathomable amounts of love to give away...

It's easy for people to act as if their state or city is the best city to have children, but really it's all about how parents raise their children despite the media or their peers. Parents have become lazy in raising their children, it's just easier if they just ignore them and not give them the time of day, oh but when their children grow up and are the ones shoting up schools, they will have not option but to give them their attention. Their children are the ones who will be there to care for them when they are old and frail, but when it comes down to it, they will be getting pushed away by their children. It's unfortunate because there are people in the world that can't have children and yet the ones who are blessed with them, fail to realize what a blessing they have. It isn't due to public transit or homeless shelters and yes it will happen whether you take public transportation, it will always happen. It will happen to women, and women will pass that down to their children, it's such a bitter life, and all we can do is be above them and be the better people, and have faith that we are good parents and good human beings!!!
